For a good mix of sound quality and sound pressure, most will say the ideal tuning range is between 30 and 34, it will sound good, and still give you the flex you want.

Tuning is the port area of the box, there are people here that can help you out with finding what length of a port you'll need in your box, I'm not entirely sure what the actual calculation is, but it has to do with the total airspace, and port hole dimensions.

You'll want to find a sub that is rated around 1500 @ 1 ohm, there are tons out there, I can give you a list of some if you give me a budget.

You would need to figure out how much space the subs you choose need, there is usually a recommendation on the manufacturer's site, then you would figure out your overall box dimesions, there is a calculator here -->Subwoofer Enclosure Calculators, Fraction to Decimal, Parallel, Series, Port Length and Volume Calculators, use .75 as the thickness, try to get within the suggested range, then post a thread in the enclosures section with the box volume, and the port hole size, and someone will give you the port length you need, then you can take those measurements to your box builder and they'll build it to your specs.

Your original picks are bad, but better can be had for the same money, the Skars would be the budget end, middle I'd say Digital Designs 2512's (750 Rated, 1000+ Capable) and top of the scale would be the Fi Audio Q at 284 a piece (1500 Rated), and the DC Audio Level 4 at 295 a piece (1000 Rated 1500+ Capable)

Just get 2 600 watt 12s. DC lvl 3s, Skar, SA12s, DD1512s. And get a budget 1500 watt amp( No HIFI ). Have somebody ON HERE build you a box. It will be MUCH better then haven a WAY overrated amp or a amp that is WAY to large for your electrical. If your electrical can not support the amp it will strain the alt(burn it up), clip the amp(burn the subs up), voltage drop the amp(Burn the amp up).

Pick out a amp and post up to see if its good. I recommend a Kicker ZX1500 or a RF T1500. They always do what they say and are easy on the electrical. Sundown and AQ amps are recommended but I have zero personal experiance with them. I dont care for Crescendo, or Audiopipe. What ever you choose make sure you get the right coils for the amp you want.

I didn't use any foul language in the post, no brand slandering, nothing negative. I was just wondering about RMS wattage under powering some speakers and over powering a 12" sub. I posted that subject two weeks ago and the moderators still have not approved... any ideas?

Tuning is not just the area of the port. It it is a function and is dependent on port opening area, port length and air volume of the enclosure.

i liked the scars, they seemed to rumble, but i also see alot of utube videos of alpine 1234ds pounding aswell..

i want something that will pound, and if i wanted it to pound even more ( wether i had to upgrade electrical or what not ) it would.

I run a single Sundown SA-10 on 1200w. You could easily get a pair of SKARs or Sundowns for under 200 a piece, and both would easily take 1000w each. For a cheap amp that does rated, I'd recommend an Audiopipe 1800. And then prepare to spend the money that you saved buying better subs for less, on a proper box, designed and built by a professional, for your specific subwoofers.

for $260 shipped to your front door. That's for the pair.

For the amp

I think the 1500d would be better for you, so you don't risk ruining the subs as easily. And you won't be able to hear the difference in power, so no worries about that.

So then you're out $410 for subs and amp. And you have plenty of money left for the proper electrical upgrades, and subwoofer enclosure to be built.

Oh, and I've heard a pair of the SKARs on an Auidopipe, and it will blow your mind away. More literally, it'll blow your hair away.

why are those skars so cheap? they are used or refurbished?
