all in all.

if i want to buy 2 subs that are 1000 rms each, and say a 2000-3000rms amp.

1. my stock alternator and battery will be fine? as long as i buy a sep battery for the trunk?

2. and to upgrade my 4 guage to 0 guage all i do is replace the 1 4 guage wire running from the battery to the amp with 0 guage?

3. in my case i would keep my 4 guage for the seperate battery and run a seperate 0guage for the amp?

4. asuming the above is correct, i would also need to do the big "3" right? which is simply buying some 0 guage wire and running it from the chasis to the bat and alternator to the battery, correct?

all i want to do is spend 500 or something on some nice decent LOUDDD

i drive a 2006 chevrolet malibu lt 3.5 v6, i have a 1 din deck installed, running 4 guage wire to an amp ( that is no good anymore thats why im shopping and seeing what i need )

i dont have the money to upgrade an alternator right now, but i want to purchase a 2000-3000 rms amp.

im sick of the ****** system i had so now i want one that makes everything rattle, so im willing to do and upgrade what i need to.

id like eat sub to be atleast 1000rms each, that way i know itll be a nice system, so i need to know, what i need to purcahse, a battery maybe? a wiring kit to do the big 3?

your reply is greatly appreciated.

im looking for 2 12's and an amp, and whatever else i need, i need to use the mtx box for now because its all i have, i dont see the harm, is there any?

Ok...from what you just said. I interpret that into that you are a 'trunk rattle' guy.

If you don't want to spend the money on a charging system, FORGET 2K-3KWRMS!!!!!

Seriously...just forget it!!!

Go for EFFICIENCY!

I would say...more cone area, more motor force. Possibly 4-10's.

Stay in the ~1500wrms-2000wrms (total) range for your sub system (to help eliminate the need for a new alt).

Forget the 2-12 box you have now. Those MTX boxes are small and tuned high...in the low-mid 40hz range. (so they sound loud in sound/demo rooms in shops to make sales...not to perform in vehicles)

What is your amp/sub/box/new wiring budget?

you'll need a properly ported box for 2 12's for you to be blown away seeing's as you've always used prefab. You can find some good deals on 2k amps here in the classifieds also some good deals on subs that can actually handle the 1k a piece happily. Do some searching, buy from reputable people on here and you'll be able to build a system for a lot less and get way better equipment. But its 95% install and 5% equipment keep that in mind.

well i dont know, maybe a budget around 800, ill be purchasing within the next few weeks, i just want to know what i need to get. even if i dont need to run an extra battery, maybe id like to, just for more power or what not since i have the 4 guage already running to the trunk? then i would run 0 guage for my new amp??

thanks for the replies,

i was thinking of purchasing a

Hifonics HFi2000D

2000W RMS, Class D Monoblock HFi Series Amplifier (HFi 2000D)

from sonic electronics for $229, or maybe 1 step up.

I do think that those Skar's with a properly tuned, custom box will sound much better than the Type X's.

A good amp to run them for the same budget is the MB Quart ONX1.1500, it's rated at 1500, but will realistically do 1400 constantly, which would save you from having to upgrade electrical too much, and it will almost certainly put out cleaner power than the HFi.

With this set-up you'd also be able to have a box built that'll make the Skar's shine with the money you have left over.

Yes, those are the subs.
Specs: SSA Store - SKAR Audio VVX Sub woofer

Rated at 600, but not a doubt in my mind that they can handle the MB Quart.

A box will probably cost around 100-150$ to be built depending on what you want, but you'll have to find a local builder to get a quote.
so with a good enough amp they will pound just as hard as the ones in the vid? and my 4 guage wiring? will i feel it in my throat? lol

i will look into purchasing those subs, but whats better, those or 2 alpine type rs at like $160 each? at 600 rms each

Yes, but the speaker is only as good as the box it is in. If you are running a 4 channel as well, you may need either 2 4 gauge runs or a 1/0 run split into 2 4's, but with the MB Quart it may be better to use 2 gauge since that is the max the amp will accept. I can almost guarantee the Skar's will be louder than the Type R's, I had a pair of Type R 12's, I wouldn't call them disappointing, but you can get better stuff for the same price.

what u mean by 2 r guage runs or a 1/0 run lol?

so i will need to upgrade my 4 guage into a 0 guage? does that only involve in changing 1 of the wires?

do i need to get an alt battery, since ive already got a 4 guage wire running anyways??>

what should i buy from sonic electronic if i cant get these ones?
