Good Midbass Speakers?

I am looking for some good midbass speakers to go into my 2005 Volvo S40. I want something from $50 to about $80, that sounds really smooth without the speaker taking in too much bass. I don't plan on running an amp to them right now but may eventually. I have heard the Memphis door speakers (step above the PRs) and I really liked the sound the produced out. What do yall think about these, and what are all of yalls recommendations?

First - Not going to work...

If you do not power them with an amp, how do you expect reasonable output? Also how will you process them? What kind of xover and EQ settings will you be using.

Second -

What will they be paired with? is it a 2way setup or a 3way?

I think you may have the term midbass confused. A midbass is usually considered to be in the range of 80-200hz or somewhere around that area. It sounds like you are wanting a speaker that will cover the midbass, midrange, and high frequencies so possibly a coaxial with a tweeter? If so there are only a few decent ones in your price range. Honestly you get what you pay for when it comes to alot of this stuff. If you can find some of the Memphis for around that price they should be fine. Personally for an inexpensive coax the Alpine Type S sounds pretty good to me.
