Good Laptop?

A gaming laptop would hardly be portable in any case... sure they exist, and they work... but you could get a nice desktop that outruns the gaming laptop AND a nice office/personal use laptop for the price of a decent gaming laptop
i respectfully disagree..mine was less than $1600 shipped (with mass options) and plays everything ive thrown at it on high (except fear)..gf 6800...and i can upgrade to a 7800 GTX if i want to...

Its not small (17" widescreen) but shit i bring it with me to work and school..not that much of a b!tch to lug around..but it is more of a desktop replacement. Im thinking of trying out a 2>2.6ghz pin mod..or at least a 1.8/2.4ghz..im at work using it right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

paying attention to the dell coupon codes ftw!

not bad! but my example still holds up... actually it'd be about even on the desktop nad your laptop.... that's a pretty decent deal though... I'd get it if I wanted a laptop that does it all...

Uhh it's an acer, 256mb ram and a celeron... for 699 I'd get something nicer and used... try to avoid celerons and get at least 512mb ram when running XP...

there are 2 100 dollar MIRs so for 499.00 you have money for upgrades and stuff

also what's the battery life like?
you already know it sucks *** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif But in that price i got an extra 9 cell battery..makes it a little better. Im hardly ever off the AC though..

I was just thinking, the portability of a desktop replacement is, at least in part, relative to how large a person you are. Im 6'4 and 225 pounds...so hauling around a big *** lappy feels natural..if i was 5'2 i might feel differently. I also like being able to set the thing on my lap without having to keep my legs closed and crush my nutz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

wel, I didn't think about it, but battery life would be important too. With my old thinkpad I got 6 hours once just using MS word with the screen on all the way dim and all the virus progams etc shut off. I like that.
