Been out of this stuff for almost 20 years. Are there any good brands these days or is basically everything pretty much all the same? I've been reading companies like orion and kicker have been bought out and it's not the same anymore. Anyone want to chime in?

The mainstream stuff I'd recommend would be from Alpine, Pioneer, JBL, Cerwin Vega, and some Maxxsonics stuff. As for amps and subs, best value/performance combo is from small companies. A few can be found at ssaudio.com. There's also a good share of stuff coming from Europe such as Hertz, Audison, Audio System, B2, Ground Zero...

kicker tries to ride on their name and cuts corners with their subs. Their amps are still decent. Orion is bought out.
