Thanks for the rec, are US accoustics amps known for their quality? or is there something out there that would be signifigantly better for a little more $

One more question, will I get a noticeable difference between the US Accoustics amp and my rockford 500S if I have the 500's gains set down to about 300-350RMS?

wait profile and good put together in a sentence i've never heard that before. anyway the usacoustics amp is the one i'd go with. i assume the other amp you mentioned is an audiobahn amp judging by the name they aren't really known for their SQ. now if you want look into something like a zapco ref. 350 that is a bad a@@ amp and you could prolly find it on ebay for not to expensive.

oh just to add the zapco 350 is what i will be running my componets off of when i get the money to get one. that or the 360 can't decide if my componets can handle that much power though.

adam

However, that being said, setting the gains down on your 500s would increase S/N ratio significantly, reduce THD significantly, reduce heat, increase damping factor, etc., so it's worth a try. I think it still might be a little too much for a Perfect, though.
not sure about s/n ratio.. i dont think thats affected by the amplifier, thats in the d/a converters i thought.... reduced heat and thd yes, although i doubt you'd ever notice the thd in a subwoofer unless it was pretty friggin high. Basically you want to reduce clipping i'd say is the biggest factor, so you want an amp that can push near the rated power for the perfect, which is 350 wrms. Getting an amp the delivers max power at 1 ohm might be your best bet.

Buy a Cadence Z9000. It says that itsa 2 channel but it pushes 800 by 1 at 4 ohms.
DONT DO IT! unless you are really nice with your perfect you'll end up on the phone with infinity trying to get it warranted (they are pretty good about it if you can get to talk to a live person..). Dont push more than 500 watts rms into a single perfect under any circumstances, this is coming from someone with a record of 3 blown perfects out of 5 perfects total. I'd say to be safe dont give it more than 400 though. A good amp would be the hifonics zues 1000d, its rated at 350 @4 ohms but i think its underrated at least 50-100 watts. Get two subs though and it'll be just about perfect, with like 750-850 watts at 2 ohms. I wish i could do it all again i woulda got that amp, from what i've heard its pretty awesome, and it looks sweet too, and has great features with subsonic filter and 24db octave crossovers. only 265 on ebay.

Hmm anything else that delivers between 700-1000 watts at 1 ohm, or 500-800 at 2 ohms would be good.. and thus preferablly in the range of 300-500 at 4 ohms... its just good to get something that has the extra power at 2 or 1 ohm if you plan to get some more subs later, which you just might. If you get an amp that pushes excess of 500 watts you'll be alright given you keep the gains way down and you do not feel the compulsory urge to really see how loud your subs will get (like i always do).

As you see in my sig, I blew my perfect. I was giving it somewhere between 450 and 500 watts. I learned my lesson. The amp that I would get if I were doing it over is the lanzar opti 1000.1d.. Its on ebay for $215 shipped... 400 rms at 4 ohms, 750 rms at 2 ohms, 1000 at 1 ohm. Remote bass control, 24 db hi/lo, and 2 year warranty. Opti's are solid, and 5 watts per dollar is ****in awesome.

Also, I got Infinity to give me warranty coverage even though i bought mine on ebay. They said if it has a serial number on it, we will cover it. And mine didnt.. ****it. Still sounds ok.

Hmm, you got them to cover it under warranty? How'd you go about that? I ordered mine new off justwoofers...but Yoshi, isn't replying to my emails.

i bought mine off yoshi also. he will replace them but you have to pay shipping. infinity was so cool to me.. what the guy had me do was get a knife and cut out the cone and the spider and ship it back to them.. so i got to keep the motor (the magnet and that stuff). shipping was only 6 bucks. and they shipped me back 2 for free. it was the shiznit, i wish all companies were that cool. Dont expect that though i just got lucky. I felt bad about it so when the 3rd one blew i never called to see if i could send it back and rip them off again.. its kinda jacked up.. i just keep playing it, sounds fine to me. i'm just waiting for my brahma and some time off so i can build a box for it.. its gunna be awesome.. looking to do about 4-5cf ported to 30 hz or so..
