Yep..I'm God
Wondering what amp I should run for my kappa perfect 12.1 SVC ...I want it to hit hard, but SQ is a bit more important.
not sure about s/n ratio.. i dont think thats affected by the amplifier, thats in the d/a converters i thought.... reduced heat and thd yes, although i doubt you'd ever notice the thd in a subwoofer unless it was pretty friggin high. Basically you want to reduce clipping i'd say is the biggest factor, so you want an amp that can push near the rated power for the perfect, which is 350 wrms. Getting an amp the delivers max power at 1 ohm might be your best bet. However, that being said, setting the gains down on your 500s would increase S/N ratio significantly, reduce THD significantly, reduce heat, increase damping factor, etc., so it's worth a try. I think it still might be a little too much for a Perfect, though.
DONT DO IT! unless you are really nice with your perfect you'll end up on the phone with infinity trying to get it warranted (they are pretty good about it if you can get to talk to a live person..). Dont push more than 500 watts rms into a single perfect under any circumstances, this is coming from someone with a record of 3 blown perfects out of 5 perfects total. I'd say to be safe dont give it more than 400 though. A good amp would be the hifonics zues 1000d, its rated at 350 @4 ohms but i think its underrated at least 50-100 watts. Get two subs though and it'll be just about perfect, with like 750-850 watts at 2 ohms. I wish i could do it all again i woulda got that amp, from what i've heard its pretty awesome, and it looks sweet too, and has great features with subsonic filter and 24db octave crossovers. only 265 on ebay.Buy a Cadence Z9000. It says that itsa 2 channel but it pushes 800 by 1 at 4 ohms.
