I am planning on buying 2 JL Audio 12w3 V2 from a local dealer and I was wondering if a 3 cu ft (for both subs) box would be alright for these subs and if they would sound good. With out distortion or anything from too much air. JL says on their web site that they are ment for anything up to 1.5 cu ft per sub. And that is what I have. But is it pushing the limit? And will it affect the life of the subs?

Thanks

BS

yea

it is an extended cab truck

the only thing is though that the subs share an air compartment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/scared.gif.f134e57c6c93ccd0f15aa5ac32c7d4a0.gif

why is that gonna be a bad thing? I asked a couple of people out here if it is ok to have them together and they said that it was ok.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing that the subs aren't seperated?

Right now the subs that I have are together in the 3 cu ft box. They haven't been harmed.

HELP

You will get nice low bass, but you might not want to, or need to for that matter, drive those subs to their full thermal rating. In a box that big, they can probably reach the limits of their suspension with a little bit less power, but having a nice 600w amp wont kill them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you run the subs the exact same sign (ie mono) it shouldn't be a huge deal that the chambers are not seperate, but if you can, it is not a bad idea to seperate them.

I've got my 1200 Watt amp and I am gonna make it 600 per sub. so I think that it should be ok.

You don't think that it is gonna hurt them to be together?

but it will hit nice and low?

Its not good to run them in the same chamber b/c if harm is brought to one of them then the other is using 3 cubes instead of 1.5. basically its to avoid possible damage to both speakers.

To be completely honest ive never ran 2 speakers in the same air space, so i dont know if theres a difference in sound. But if you think about it some tracks will have alternating sounds from L to R and front to back, it would seem to me that they would cancel eachother out? especially in stereo.

im confused. You cant fit a ported box in an extended cab ranger?

My buddy has 3 cvr 15's in 7.8 cubes @ 40hz in a splash

The reason that I can't fit the ported box in the truck is because I like to take the box out and take people sometimes. And also the box is made right now. The thing about the stereo sound is really true. I never thought of that. Right now I have them in MONO so it really doesn't matter if the subs are in the same compartment or not. With it in stereo it will be different. HMM... That could be a problem. but I can try it and maybe see what the guy says at the shop about wiring.
