Good 5.25" Setup

Hey everyone. I came over from RoE and some other forums. Anyway, I need some new 5 1/4" speakers for my front doors. I drive a '99 Ford Explorer sport. I'd say that the maximum depth is about 2.75"-3" I have a Kicker ZX650.4 that will be available to power the speakers. In the future, I am going to upgrade my amplifier, so availability of adequate power is not an issue.

What I am looking for in this speaker is audiophile output. I want the speaker to be able to handle plenty of power, because I need to be able to hear the lyrics and other components of the music over my two 12" subs. Component sets are looking good, but coaxial might work if they are the right kind.

CDT has some promising speaker sets out there that I have been looking at. I have also been looking at the Image Dynamic component set found HERE

Haven't been able to get a review or any details on how those Image Dynamics perform, however. Anyway, someone hook me up with a link to some bad *** 5.25 Mids or Component set!

I own both CDT and ID comps and they are both excellent brands for speakers. Have you listened to any speakers you liked so we can get a better idea of what kind of sound you like. What was your budget for the comp set?

Yes, I have a pair of CDT ES-06+'s in sealed box of about .2ft squared for each woofer. I like the tightness and sound of the mid that i get from it. I listen to mostly Heavy Metal music, which has a lot of double bass hit, so i like something that is going to dish out the mid sound well. My cutouts for the Explorer are actually 5x7, but the Infinity 5x7's i have in there right now just aren't cutting it. They distort when the volume goes up too much. Also, budget for this should probably not go over 250-300. This is kind of going to be a temporary set until I get a new vehicle.

Can you fit a 6.5" driver?

probably not, because if i made a MDF thing to mount it further out so it could fit into the hole, the speaker would be hitting my door panel, and since I am going to probably be selling the Explorer soon, I don't want to cut on the door panels....so, no...just 5.25"
