Good 12" SQ Sub

Title pretty much says it all, but im looking for a good SQ sub that will work decently in a sealed box around 1.5 cu ft. I have a 10001BD right now that i could run it with, but am more than likely looking to downgrade the amp. Thanks for the help in advance.

Sealed I wouldn't run the Mag 12. I'm overall unhappy with mine in 1.5 cu ft sealed because it just doesn't drop low enough. It models out to have an f3 of around 53hz in that box! Not to mention my car's transfer function sucks... so its just really peaky.

This $200 sub on the other hand, will have an f3 of around 31hz in that same box, big difference.

you want a sub

SQ??

12inch???

$200???

1.5 ft3 sealed??

If you just want a 12inch sub for SQ, and SQ alone.

go for a 12inch IDQ $199,

.55 - 1.00 cu. ft sealed box ( it will work 1.5 ft3 sealed)

or

1.0 - 1.5 ft3 ported box

100 to 500RMS , but you can give it little more power.

BTW, what amp is that ?? 10001BD? is that the Rockford Fosgate T10001bd??

Diamond Audio D6. I love mine. Around $170 shipped on ebay.

Edit: Just realized that you are working with 1.5 cu ft. That's a bit too large. .85 is the recommended although I run mine in a 1.2 cu ft enclosure.

Depends on what kind of sound you are looking for really, the IDQ will have very similar response to the Mag, f3 of around 57hz in that box.. not my cup of tea, but some people like it. It also depends on the car I should say, some cars boost the low end much more than others.

Without the car's transfer function even being considered, the Q and the IDMax will be flat down to around 40hz. The Mag and the IDQ will be more peaky, flat down to around 50hz, and that TC sub I linked you to will be flat down to around 30hz. Keep in mind that you may not like that much low end because your car will naturally boost those frequencies.

Oz Matrix Elite 12.4 is another good SQ sub that I would look into for that box size... should have response similar to the IDMax.
