Golf cart batteries.

Was looking to get a little info from you electrical guys out there, would there be any benefit really to running two (6v) golf cart batteries in series? Can get them pretty cheap, and i have the room under the hood. Just can't decide if they would outperform a (12v) battery of the same price.

The main problem with running multiple batts is that you have to keep the voltage balanced between them or they will not last as long. So when you have 2 6v in series you are just adding more variation and chances are that it won't be balanced.

Always best to have fewer larger batts if possible.

The only real benefit that I could think of is the AH is typically higher with those batts
Because the voltage is half of a 12V batt. When you wire batteries in series you up the voltage, but the AH rating stays the same. So two 200ah 6V batts wired in series to run a 12V system will give you 200ah at 12V.
