Going to single woofer.

Right now I have 2 12" JL Audio W0s in a JL basswedge box running off a Alpine 500Watt amp (250RMS per woofer) and want to run a single woofer. I was looking at running either a 13 W7 off a JL HD 1200 or a 15" MTX 9500 off a JL HD 1200. Theres 2 models of the MTX one is old and one is the newer one link is below. Will I have more output than what I have now going to a single sub? and is there any other woofer I can run as a single and get more output than what I have?

Any good sub on 1200w is going to have more output than what you have

are you stuck on JL? For what they cost retail, you can get WAY louder.

No but I need trunk space and the box size isnt too big for both these subs. I wanted to do a Sundown X but box will be too big

dc audio xl 12 can work in smaller boxes. Or even DC XL 10.

yeah. The w7s dont belong when you say loudness lol. The old mtx is good, not sure about the new ones. They look kinda sh*tty compared to the old school 9500s.

If you go balls to the walls with a 15, then go with a dc level 5 and instead of a JL 1200, get a banda 7k.

Might need an alt and a few batts tho lol...

If not the the 1200.1 and XL option should work fine for now.

DC subs do well in small boxes

I'm looking to run 1200-1500 to the woofer max. And then a nice 600/4 to my components. So the total system will be around 1800-2100 watts.

Woudnt the dc lv 4 be a better choice on a hd 1200 since the lv4 is 1400rms while the xl is 2200rms. And would 3 cubes net be fine for a 15" tuned to 34hertz?

you can go level 4 thats fine. Dont skimp too much on port area.

I know I cant fit the Sundown X 15" but I can fit a 12" Sundown X on probably 1200-1500RMS and the box would be 2.5 cubes net tuned to 32 or 34hertz. Should I go bigger on the box like 3 cubes? Would the single sundown X 12 on 1200-1500RMS be louder than the 2 12" JL Audio W0s on 500watts.

With that amount of power i would definitely go 3cu net but with proper port it will be close to 4cu gross. In that box on that power tuned probably 34hz it should be a noticeable upgrade.
