Going to Buy New Gear

My current system works fine. I scare people at intersections with Machine Head played at antisocial volumes. But I want to build a new system, just because.

My current system is the product of me walking into a car audio store, handing them 2.5 grand, and telling them to build me a system. This time I'm going to do it all myself, with 4 or 5 grand. I was hoping you fine folks could toss out some brand names and perhaps model numbers just to get me started in the ball park. If you're so inclined to design the entire system, I would certainly appreciate that, but it's not what I'm ultimately asking. I'm just trying to get a little jump start in the knowledge department with regard to what brands are solid, or perhaps what specific model numbers are solid.

And if its relevant to the task at hand, I listen to metal. And also metal. And sometimes metal, but usually its metal.

Thanks. And hello.

Whats your goal with the system? All out SPL? Sound Quality? A mixture of both? How much space do you have to work with? Basically we need a run down of your ultimate goals and what you have to work with!

Well start with a nice hu and frt stage a 80 prs and some really nice cdts or hat components is a great start. Also a high powered amp for them. Then look at the sub stage. 12s or 15s x2. And amp usually 3000-5000 is a pretty good start in a ported box too. Then electrical. Ho alt 250-300 amp lots of 0 gauge wire too And a couple of extra batteries Now the brands you wanna look at. Dc amps and subs. American bass amp and subs. Cdt components ascendant subs These are just a couple of recommendations I. Can help you out with the whole system with pricing and which components

The platform is an extended cab Silverado. Right now it has a Kenwood X883 hu with a Sirius receiver tucked in the dash, sub is RF P5002 pushing 2x10" RF P2 in a sealed enclosure, front is RF P4004 driving RF P162S in the front doors and RF Pdon'trememberwhats in the rear. Each amp has the same battery external fuse rating; 60 amps. The system (with a different hu) was installed in 2005. No sound damping materials anywhere. Wiring is 4 gauge all around and the alternator is stock. One battery, a yellow top; 6 months old. I have never detected any voltage issues, such as dimming lights, etc.

Sound quality is my primary goal for the new system. I'll definitely spring for an HO alternator. I'll install a dual battery if necessary. But just a dual, nothing more.

Space under the back seat is limited, so enclosure volume is likewise limited. The sealed enclosure I have now takes up the entire underseat space.
