Going the DIY route over Logitech, need a little help!!!

Ok guys, I've done some quick looking around, and really want a diy project. My parents are asking what I want for christmas, and I told them the Logitech z-2300 computer speakers, but I think I want to go this route instead.

What do yall think? Its the same price at the logitech and will probably sound alot better. My only question is, is what exactly do I need to hook this up to my comp. I know I need to make cabinets and will do some searching on those shortly, but what do I need to power the mids and highs? how will I hook it up to the computer (cable wise)?

ok links fixed the only thing im worried about is the mid range/ mid bass, i dont know it will extent low enough to meet up with the sub

i can almost guarantee they will sound worse than a properly designed speaker in that price range (but possibly better than the logitecs, even though quite a few people seem to like them).

the hardest part about a DIY speaker setup is the design. just throwing those speakers in a box is NOT going to sound good.

the sub would be a good choice, though. put that in a well designed, ported box, and it will be good bump for the price/size.

i'd suggest matching that up with these:

unless you are fairly experienced at crossover design, these are probably going to sound much better than anything you could throw together yourself.

i am even using them without a sub, and they have impressive bass for their size.

(fyi, you will have to solder the crossover network together).

they're getting pretty good hype from very experience DIY'ers (for the price).

either of the last two (and the DIY you planned on making) would need external power (if that wasn't obvious).
