Going digital all the way up to the amps?

I would like to know if there is a solution out there for having a digital player play lossless or uncompressed files into a HU and then trugh a processor in the digital domain, and then enter the amps as analog? I figure that would be enough to go digital to the amps, because I intend to use AB amps for comps and tweets, and a digital amp for the sub. And I will go 2-way active.

All this is for I just would like to know if there would be a better way than having to use the DACs of the iPod.

Edit: As no replies as yet, I might add that what I want is a digital player that can play lossless or uncompressed, and connect digitally or optically with a HU that takes digital or optical in, processor might be the Bit-1 as it has both optical and S/PDIF in.

I heard of Chronos 7 and a Naka HU, but that is way over what I can fork out for this.

No one has a solution for going digital from player to a processor? I've been looking all over but found nothing, is the Chronos solution all there is? Processor preferably Audison Bit One that seems to be very nice indeed.

I'll BUMP this for the last time, and refrase the question a bit.

Now I would like to know if you know of any digital media player that supports lossless and/or uncompressed music files and that have excellent DAC, and have either S/PDIF or coaxial out and USB or FW?

My plan is to connect such a device to an Audison Bit One.

How in-depth do you want to get? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif If you've got a lot of time, you could configure a carPC with an external DAC - there's proponents of XP for audio, Vista, Mac, and all sorts of technical voodoo you can get into with drivers and such. But regardless of which path you take, a computer with a quality DAC will allow you to have lossless bit-perfect playback, with pretty much any output connection you could want...SPDIF, dig. coax, even optical.

interesting, so bascially you can handle all of your audio processing through a good carputer?

It could all be done in software if you wanted to. I'd imagine it's not as attractive of an option for many because there isn't a neat package for it yet...you've got to cobble it together yourself.

Well, time will be plenty when the new year kicks in when I will be jobless, but I might not want to be that deep into it. What has been on my mind though, is using an older Mac Powerbook that I have laying around. I was thinking you might be able to connect an external drive and a PCMCIA card with either optical or coaxial out to a Audison Bit One compressor.

I've also looked at the following two media players, that I think might be possible to directly connect to the Bit One, I'm in the process to investigate these options at the moment. I think especially the DVP-260 migth be viable, as it has a car connection kit as an assessory kit you can buy with it.
