Going 'Active' Questions ... mono bass quality question

I have a few things i need cleared up about going active.

1. Can I get a 4 channel amp and hook two channels up to the tweets and the other two to the midbass and have the amp controll the frequency's and completly bypass the need for a crossover? Is that what classify's active?

2. In that scenario, would the need for a high quality 4 channel amp be more necessary?

3. Are kicker 4 channel amps good enough in terms of signal quality? Or is a digital amp necessary?

4. Am I better off just getting a 2 channel amp and a set of PG RSD comps to create a good front stage, considering funds are limited or should I stalk the classifieds for better opportunities?

5. Is the Rockford Fosgate T10001bd good enough in terms of quality to drive anything from a 12W6, IDMAX, SI MAG, SI BM, FIQ to their full potential?

I appreciate any feedback and opinions of any kind.

In order to go active you will need a signal processor. This means either a head unit that will output 3 different signals to the RCA's (For a 2-way+sub setup) or an external multi-channel crossover.
