Giving in to surround sound...

As you know I built line arrays last time when I decided I needed new speakers for my room, and of course they turned out to be way too extreme for my room, in size and volume, so I moved them and the equipment to go with them into the living room.

So that left me with my Sony surround sound reciever in my room, along with 2 generic speakers that came with a shelve system I had when I was a kid. Its acceptable, but I realised my room is where i listen the most, so i decided to go ahead and upgrade.

Im going to stick with my sony reciever for now, but i found a good deal on this Acoustic research surround sound set, so i picked it up:

http://www.hometheatersound.com/equipment/acousticresearch_hc6.htm

Anyway, i mostly listen to music, watch movies, and game on my computer, so i will want to hook it up right. I have a high quality sound card and it has outputs for up to 7.1, but i wil only be using it for 5.1, so i will be using the Front, Rear, and Center/sub jacks, so i will need:

(3) 3.4mm stereo jack-->2 RCA plug cables, about 6 feet.

Should i get high quality ones or would these be fine:

Or GOLD!

I would just get 2 3.5" to rca adapters then run a regular rca cable the 6 feet.

It is only a few bucks, but there will be more use for 2 6' rca cables in the future than 2 6' 3.5" to rca cables

The adapters are $1.20 each at monoprice and then you could use whatever rca cable you want

Maybe the 6' premium cable for better sheilding for $3.03 each

nobody seems to care about this thread but i went to wallmart and was just gonna buy their cheap y-cables, then i dropped by the ipod section and saw that they had "Belkin" ones for a few cents less, and they are gold and pretty nice, 7footers, so i picked those up, cheaper than ebay! only 4.86 apeice

So do you have it hooked up? Does it work? It is true that the more connections you have the more signal loss you have however it really only makes a noticable difference if you are running high end home audio, pro audio snakes 150', or RF connections where de-sense can be a big problem.
