Getting bass in a regular cab truck?

I've looked into almost all of my available options on this topic, each with their pro's and con's and keep coming back to this same question.

Regular cab truck with space for a wedge behind the seats. 30"w x 14"h x 7"d bottom and 4"d top. Thats 1.3 cu ft to play with. That also establishes my mounting depth of around 5.5", depending on the size of the magnet since the front box face is on a 12 degree angle.

8's? 10's? Shallow 12's or 15's? Can i still go low if I get a bunch of smaller drivers?

And I have a 600 wrms amp @ 1ohm. Pleasee give me some pointers!

angle the sub...a^2+b^2=c^2 you can get just over a 15...and if its at an angle, you will have more room for mounting depth...not sure how much though, ill try and figure it out...

I had a 12" '06XXX in my '94 ford f-150 reg. cab....just done a truck box behind my bucket seats and ran the sub inverted in between the seats. Had about the same space as you.
Yeah that was clean.

I would say go for the 2 shallow 12s or 3 8s. I really think that 2 d4 12s would fit your bill. Giving you a 1ohm load. Really a toss up on which driver though. Mounting depth is gonna be your worst enemy. I suggest not buying anything until you actually put it in the box itself.

If these dimension haven't factored in the thickness of MDF (assuming 3/4" MDF), you can really only get .82 cubes... Unless those dimensions you gave us were for the inside of the box, and you have an extra 1.5 inches on the outside of those dimensions...

With a 14" height, you can only get a little over a 14" front face.

When doing the triangle, your height is 14", but you leg is only 3" (7-4).

So i'd probably say maybe a single 10" shallow mount for that small of a space..

Yea, i had thought I was factoring MDF thickness in but then noticed dimensions were still set to internal in Bass Box Pro. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I can go a little over 30" wide if needed. I could get about 1 cu ft internal max. Obvious looking at a sealed box only.

Would 2 8's go moderately low?

I have the same dilemna as you.

I have 2 cheap MTX 10s.. not cuttin it, I'm lookin @ four assassins 8''s for my next setup. I have a 95 F-150 reg. cab, **** bench seat.

From what I've heard these Assassin 8's don't go too low, more like bass drivers than subs. Compared to 2 12s? The formulas are all saying it will be comparable up to about 50Hz, then the Assassins will step all over the 12's up to 150Hz.

I could do either a shallow 12 or several 8s in my setup. Shallow 12's don't perform or handle as much power as a regular 12" sub, so I'm not sure if that levels the playing field at all. In truth I should buy both and find out for myself, but I don't have the resources right now.

i know a guy that ran three 10"s sealed with 1500 watts and it doesnt compare to his new single 10" ported setup. the new setup sounds much fuller and deeper. new body style GM pickup
