Getting back in, need system

I read somewhere on here that a type r is louder then a type x, from several people.

I listened to a set of Type S speakers and 1 12'' type R in the alpine ported box and the SQ flat out shocked me. I think im going to get full type S speakers in my Jeep.

Fancy looking doesn't matter a whole lot to me, I just want something that sounds good and slams.

It will DEFINETLY be louder sealed.
Ported? Type-X hates ported //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

are u kidding me??? Type x doesnt like ported??? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

my friends got on 12 " x and he recently went from sealed to ported and it 100% better both SQ and spl.

With that qts and it's EBP, I see no reason to port if you like SQ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

If a $200 sub is going to be outperformed by one that costs $100, why buy it? Even if they're real close.

Current considerations-

15 SX

2 Type R 12

15 IA LI

Better power handing, bigger xmax. It will DEFINETLY be louder sealed.

So it WILL be louder due to better power handling(which will be dependant upon the application) and more Xmax?

You do realize there is quite a bit more to loudness than the powerhandling, which is pretty much a useless figure in the SPL scene anyways, and Xmax. The larger spec on Xmax mean nothing other than the driver has the CAPABILITY for more LINEAR throw. Once you start getting up in power in the SPL scene, you can throw linearity out the window. Specs can only tell you so much and something they cannot tell you is that one will be louder than another.

Im an Alpine freak, id get 100% Alpine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Type R or X Components on a MRV-F345

Type R or X - 12" Ported on a MRD-M1005

and an Alpine Headunit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'd say the output and clarity are above average.

aaaannd....

I have never, ever had a problem with an Alpine product in 15 years.
