Getting back in, need system

Long time no Booooooom. I sold my Comp VRs and Hifonics NX750d for a bargain that was too good to resist, and now I find myself missing bass. Even before that I've been out of the car audio scene, just kind of had the subs.

I'm getting sick of listening to my friend's "system" and how "good it sounds"....2 12'' kenwood tornados and a xplod, all blown, stuffed in a rattling buick trunk, so i've decided I want some kind of bass of my own again. I was looking at getting a 10'' Type X and a Hifonics BX1500D untill i discovered that the Type X isn't exactly what I'm looking for. I dont care what some people say about hifonics, I had my NX750D running at 1 ohm for OVER a year and it never gave me a single problem

So for about $250 the things i've been considering:

4 12'' Memphis PRs - not sure how loud and how good these would sound, and it would take up a lot of space so would definatly be sealed

2 12'' Type R - would probably be sealed as well because I dont want to take up tooooooo much space.

1 10'' Type X - seems like only a SQ sub, not exactly what I'm looking for.

1 ?other? 10-12-15? Would probably be ported, and i want good SQL

I'm looking for something that will be nice and boomy while listening to rap, but quick and tight while listening to metal. Any reccomendations?

No experience with the Alpines, so I won't comment on them.

I have heard so may good things about the Memphis PRs being such a great budget sub though and recently got the chance to play with some, albeit a pair of 15s.

I must say, for the money, they are an awesome buy. Throw them in a slightly large sealed enclosure at their RMS and get ready to rock. They're a great all-around driver, and they are cheap. May not look as nice as the Alpines, but I'd spend the money on them.

Try and listen to the type-x. It gets pretty darn loud.

Any thoughts on a 12'' IA LI?

I have a IA 187 12'' and I love it! I am thinking about getting another 12 because right now I'm running one at about 700 watts at 1 ohm from my 1200.1 viper. These things love lots of power! The 187 is an amazing SQL woofer. I say get two and send each around 700 watts and you will love it

check into the infinity kappas, they meet your price range and sound very good. a jl 12w3 might work for you as well. alpine type-x is sql, gets retardedly loud. but still not as loud as a w6 or 7. boston makes a nice sub too, the G5, but its a little pricey, upper 300's, but extremely loud.

i'd def go wit the TYPE Rs. or even the TYPE Ss. u'd love those sealed. would sound awesome and still blur ya vision

shop around...type r's are nice, but there's better out there.
