im thinking about getting an apartment with 2 other friends after i graduate high school this year. I pretty much dont want to be like my 22 year old brother and depend on my parents for everything during his college. I am fixin to start a part time job with a welding company and after i graduate i plan to go full time with them until i finish college. the main thing i was wanting to know was.

1. how much would they usually run for in a suburb area.

2. what kind of pet rules do they usually have and does this apply to critters that live in aquariums.(snakes)

3. how the hell would you go about telling your parents.

1) can't answer

2) I'm not sure most of the time people just don't want dogs/cats in a house. It is usually at the landlords discretion, so just ask them if it's ok. They are all different

3) I just started out by mentioning it to my parents and eventually we just sat down and talked about it. I would be prepared to talk for a while and have some good reasons why you want to move out and how you plan on supporting yourself/who you are moving in with/etc. Just sound confident about it like you've givin it some thought rather then them asking you a question and you not being able to answer.

3) What?
my parents pretty much expect me to live with them for my entire college years unless i go to a school off somewhere. i wanna try and support myself for once and they would pretty much freak out on me.

basically ill be able to support myself with a full time job and they cant really stop me but there would probably be some hard feelings at first.

I will say being on your own during college sucks man, I hope you are up for the challenge. You won't have much of a social life.

edit: I'm lucky enough that my parents help me out as long as I further my education. I still work but they give me some money every week. They are just nice like that. I have had to support myself fully before though and it blows. I don't see how people work full time, go to school full time, and then some people even have a family. That's just crazy, I probably couldn't do it well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

hmm maybe just me....but when i was 18 i was gone...my parents were happy....got married at 19 and had a kid all in the same year...now im 21...and doing good and happy where im at right now....but yeah...everything depends on your location...and were my wife and i live we have to put more money down to have our cats....and for dogs we would have to pay so much more a month...which imo is dumb...but good luck man.

I thought you already lived on your own? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
Nope. I'm still going to school. This December or January I'll be moving out. My parents go to Florida for the winter so I'll have the house to myself soon.

im pretty sure my rent split between 3 or so people would be around 300-350 a person or at least thats about what my brothers is at ms state. even though going to a community college is going to cost about 400 a class i think ill be able to pay that off with my snake breeding project. I plan to only go for about 4 years at the most to get a degree in biology but im gonna take it slow and spread my classes out to make it easier.

i am moving out pretty soon. I graduated back in may, but i've been saving up and bought a new car and what not. My friend is coming back from basic training nov 1st, me and him are going to get an apartment. I already picked it out and his dad pretty much runs the place so might get a little discount. The rent is $375/month plus utilities. It's a pretty nice apartment, fairly new and it is two bedrooms and is two stories. The building only has four apartments so not many people in and out. Also has a little basketball court that would be right outside my door. Compared to what my sister pays in Orlando for a similar apartment this is a steal. Like the saying goes its all about the three L's... location location location.

its either that or i cant convince my parents to let me buy one of their empty houses which has enough rooms to where i can let two of my friends pay to live with me and go and use the money from them to slowly pay for the house which is worth about $30,000.

my worst fear would be to end up like my old science teacher and be spending 20 years of my life paying off student loans and being miserable.
