getting a credit card??

When I was 18 I got a Capital One CC. Cap One sucks though because they usually neglect reporting your score to the credit bureau. I am in the process of getting a Citi bank one, not sure on the limit, but the % is 9.9 I believe. I also have another CC offer here for 9.9 with 15k limit, but most likely will not take it.

If you have a bank account, your bank should give you one. I've been offered many times by BOFA but turned them down cause of there shitty apr % rates.

Best cards to get: Citi, Amex Black, and a few others.

Check this link out on credit though:

Read it, it will help you.

Ps. Im 19 now... and I have a very good credit score, so theres no reason you cant get a cc, pay it off every month and get a good credit score.

i'm 22 and have a providian with a 6k limit. i went on disability in may and didnt really have a choice but to get one, and after i had 2k already charged, i said screw it i might as well finish my system, so i got the subs, amps, wiring, battery, alternator, and components. i kept the head unit at least //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

doesnt have any interest for a year, so as long as i pay it off before may or june i'll be alright, shouldnt be a problem once i get my tax returns. still paying about a 100-150 a week on it though.

back to work now, doing 60 hour weeks in a printing factory to pay them off.

excercise control young padawan...

Don't have them get the loan for you, have them co-sign with you. It will still report on your credit report under your name if you just have them co-sign.
Likewise for a credit card; have them guaranty the card. It will still report on your credit report if they guaranty the card.

That's what co-signers/guarantors are for.

i had my dad co-sign my last credit application so i could buy my laptop and they stil denied me. these places are *****es. i'll just apply for any card i can and see which one gives me one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif i plan to move to florida soon so it would be good to have a credit card just in case since i'll be so far away from home.

Denied you why?

I don't want this to come off negatively; But are you sure your dad is an adequate co-signer?

Many times people just assume that their parents would be adequate, when in reality their parents either have high debt themselves (which means they can't co-sign), or have a lot of slow pay/delinquency in their credit history.

Just a thought that you may need to seek out a different co-signer.

my mother co-signed me for a discover card with a $1k limit and we got approved, about 2 months later I started receiving solicitations in the mail from every credit card company known to man wanting to give me a card, if your parents have good credit, having them co-sign is the way to go to get started, after a few charges and prompt payments it's all cake from there, at 19 I've already established good credit

yes. my dad ended up getting the card for me. he worked at ford motor company for 30 years and owns his own house, and has a new car etc. i don't know why they didn't approve me with him co-signing. the reason i wanted the card for my laptop because they where offering a $100 rebate if you use there credit card. i had the cash but wanted the extra $100.

Wait, how many have you been denied from? Also you shouldnt mass apply to them, it looks bad, plus it supposedly takes away from your credit score if you get denied. Lots of inquiries at one time looks bad.

just one recently. before that i applied for a couple and got denied.

ON my first car my dad cosigned for me. The weird thing is it just showed up on his credit and not mine. The title and registration shows both names but the credit never did. I have heard from a couple other people that their cosign didnt show up also

Denials don't show up on credit reports or affect credit score.

But if you have too many inquires (where someone pulls your credit report), 7 I believe within a 6 month period, then it will negatively affect your score.

Exception to that is if you have many pulled within a 1 week period, like what typically happens at car dealership. Then it will not negatively affect your score.

This is exactly what I'm talking about //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif It's good that he has good time on job, and owns his own house and a new car. But that doesn't mean he isn't/wasn't at his debt limit, or had some slow pay history.
