Get my HD3C15 today

just got a pm from DJ. says to reduce port area to 15-16" per cube and tune to 38-40hz and to center the sub, instead of having it near the port wall like it is.

hey dj while you're in here, do you still recommend the 4.5^ft volume?

15 square inches? Thats entirely too small. Thats about equivalent to one 4" aeroport, WAY too little for a 15".

Having the sub off to the side is fine actually, I'm guessing you did that to move the sub farther away from the end of the port (inside the box)? If so, I do the same thing.

Center the sub?.....i always thought it was best to have it over the port...hence CRX style boxes?

Is this only with sub back port back?

god dammit tommy. i did it again lol. i meant 15-16" per cube.

as far as the port, yes thats why i did it.

he means to center it on the front baffle instead of being tucked away into the port wall corner. i dont know all ins and outs of how air reacts inside, but maybe as the air is compressed in that corner it effects the sub some how.

Your are worse than the Chinese dude who does our box labels
lol. hey DJ, i commend you guys for the way you package your subs. the foam inserts on top and the whole foam support the the rest of the sub and double boxing it, at least in my opinion, is a GREAT idea. no offense to FI (as i have owned 3 of their woofers in 2 different models so far and i have loved each one), but your method of packaging is ridiculously more effective in protecting the products.

So far UPS has only managed to break one of them

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, ok. haha
4 cubes would put him right at 60 square inches, which is what I recommended earlier. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
i think thats gonna be my next box then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. see what kind of difference i get.

DJ beat you to it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

As far as the sub location, I've done the same thing on multiple boxes with absolutely no issues.

Thats my sister's setup. 10" type-r and a kicker kx400.2 and it throws down very well and has a surprisingly flat frequency response.

You are quite a bit further from the port wall with a much smaller sub and motor structure. Tuck it in too close and the cone doesn't load even
