General Question about a setup

Ok first off, I am new to these forums, but not new to forums in general. I have been using forums for almost 5 years so I know how not to be a noob. ANYWAYS, I have a couple of questions about a setup. I may be getting this so I need to know. And I am not that knowledgable in this subject.

My first question is about "channels". If I were to have:

2 12 inch subs

3 sets of speakers (Like the Alpine Type X speakers which come with 2 woofers and 2 tweeters in each set)

2 Alpine amps

How many channels is that? I know how a computer relates to channels or surround sound does. Like 5.1 means 5 speakers and 1 sub. Front, Rear, Center, and sub. Also is that more than 4 channels(I don't know how it works with cars)?

Basically what I want is this I want 2 12 inch Alpine Type X subs, 3 sets of the Type X speakers, and 2 Alpine amps.

What type of amplifiers would I need?

I was also looking at the Pioneer AVH-7600DVD to control all this? Will it be able to? Or is it more than 4 or 5 channels.

Also what would I need to power all this? Would my cars battery be fine? Or do I need seperate power?

THANKS GUYS! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

I am sorry for being rude if it comes off as rude but I really don't need or want to go to that site because there is too much information there lol. I don't want to spend the time going through everything to find my answers to just those questions. Sorry for being a jackass. Can you please help me though?

Spend some time on this site: www.bcae1.comLots of knowledge there.
Definately a good resource there. Certainly worth spending some time having a read. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Alright. That's pretty standard.
3 sets of speakers (Like the Alpine Type X speakers which come with 2 woofers and 2 tweeters in each set)
What you have described is commonly known as a "component set." Why, might I ask, would you want to run 3 of them?
2 Alpine amps
Alpine makes solid stuff. Good choice.

We're not building a home theater in your car. You have left and right. Sometimes front and rear but others like only fronts. That bit is all about personal preference. And there is no way to tell you simply that you need any certain number of channels. There are too many ways to accomplish similar goals to set any certain number in stone for you. Example: A component set (see above) being run passively only needs one channel of amplification. That same component set being run actively will need two channels of amplification. (have a search and a read through the forum for the differences between active and passive). So, in one situation one "location", if you will, in your car needs 1 channel and another situation calls for 2 in that same location.

You just stated that you want to run Alpine amps?!?

I think, at the end of the day, you are trying to create and implement an enthusiast's setup with a novice's knowledge level. No, I'm not bagging on you for being a novice. We all started knowing...well, nothing (and don't let anyone lie to you and tell you otherwise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif) But slow down a bit first and expand your knowledge base before you go and burn huge amounts of money on something that isn't going to give you what you want. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Ok, I really appreicate you taking the time and answering my questions. So let me see if I can get it clear:

First off yes the speaker sets are component. So If I want 6 speakers, I should only get one component set right? Like have the 2 woofers and tweeters up at the front, then only woofers in the middle, and only woofers in the back? Would that work? Because I want speakers for each section of my car (front, middle, back) and tweeters. So if I get:

1 Alpine Type X Component speaker set

2 Alpine 12 inch Sub-woofers

1 Alpine 4/3/2 multi-channel Amp

4 speakers(For the sides and back, 2 pairs)

1 Pioneer AVH-7600DVD

Will it all work together and sound good (or great)? Also what about power? Thank you again. And sorry for all the questions. I usually do alot of research before I ask questions, so I have some knowledge without sounding dumb.

Can anybody answer these questions?

you dont need speakers for the middle of your car, some people dont even run back speakers(me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif) i say

a) buy the type x component set for the front

b) buy a set of typr r coax or type s coax for the rear

c) buy that amp you are looking at and power all 4 speakers

d) get the subs and run them off a mono amp

e)get the dvd HU

dont waste money on crap that isnt needed

I think this is what you will be looking for:

Pioneer AVH-7600DVD

2 Sets of Type X Components (1 front, 1 rear - 2 midbass and 2 tweeters in ea location)

2 Type X subs

1 Alpine 4 channel for the components

1 Alpine Class D mono Amp for the subs

I am going to have to second the suggestion that you take a look around before dropping large amounts of money on the Alpine equip without truly understanding what you need/want. You may also find that you can get different equipment, save some cash, and have a better end result (but there is nothing wrong with Alpine). Take the advice of those who have suggested, because in the end it WILL save you time and money.

yes alpine stuff is not the cheapest, are you willing to go used or ebay?

i say try out some rainbow SLC's they are great speakers for the price, what are you thinking of running for subs? 2 12s sealed or ported? because properly powering 2 type X's will need some electrical revamping

Actually, I will most likely get everything off ebay. It is just cheap there. And I know how ebay works, so I won't get scammed.

EVERYBODY, THANK YOU! I really appreciate everybody's help and I now know what to get. Thank you again. You guys have been very helpful.
