My statement about the link was for the benefit of those arguing and still blaming americas president for all the problems. When are we going to learn that TOTAL CONTROL is imaginary. Hence the basic reason for the multiple levels of government from city to state to federal. It is a system of checks and balances. You, if you vote, are also responsible for the state of the nation. If you dont vote... what right do you have for complaining about political issues?

(p.s... the web page was just ONE view of the reason for fuel prices withOUT a political agenda. I felt it stated the truth and covered most of what I was trying to get across. That's why I referenced it)

Gas was underpriced because it wasn't being imported like it is today...and OPEC wasn't around...

Raising minimum wage shouldn't have the affect you perceive it to have...considering that inflation went crazy while minimum wage remained literally untouched for decades...fact of the matter is minimum wage is far below what it should be, and should have been in years past, when comparing it to inflation and cost of living...

maybe gas shouldn't be where it was when i bought my first car in 02 @ $1.10 a gallon but c'mon hurricanes happen every year, so one hurricane completely ruined the oil market . no one company or production company out plans for disasters of any kind. i won't believe it. i hope gas does continue to go down, who will be the cause of it i dunno, but i would hope that the gov't will be more than the market honestly. and yeah i'm exaggerating everything ain't all all bad but i've gon thru more than an avg 23yr old. ie filing unemployment @ age 20 (long story), i have reason to be pissed at gov't decisions.

No, there wasnt just one hurricane that year. There were two. Rita ***** the OTHER half of louisiana, knocking down refineries all the way as far as Galveston, TX. How do i know? I work for a crane service company that services mostly oilfield cranes and compressors.

thank you for validating your status dozy.... and I am truly sorry if my "opinions" come across as if I have some sort of superiority issue. I don't. I am in here to learn and to share. That's all. I know my own statements may have some unintentional falsification, but, that does not give any one the right to attack another. What you believe to be fact, I may see as pure Bullsh!t.... until one or the other can respectfully debate an issue to an agreeable end. That's what debate is all about. This forum is in essence no more than that..everyone has an opinion... We are two individuals growing up in two entirely different environments...let alone the age difference that seperates us. With that being said, lets act like adults, agree to disagree, and leave the personal commentary out of it. It blew up on us last time...let's not go there again please.

Because we are so limited in the oil we are "allowed" to produce in this country..we must lean more on imported oil. That's why OPEC does not have as much control over prices as they once did. The people I have not seen brought into this conversation are the people I believe we should be pushing on. The stock market, especially futures... has a LOT to do with it depending on what they, as a collective group of purchasers and sellers, do with the information provided them. Politically or otherwise.

I was pointing out the fact that no one seems to do the research needed to form an educated opinion. It is a sad state of affairs when we listen to what FOX, or CNN, or MSNBC, or any other conglomeration of commentators tell us to believe.

The war in IRAQ is no different... the media tells us one thing (usually the wrong or negativelly glamorized version) but if you were to actually speak to any one of our fine soldiers that have personally been there you would see a different light.

p.s.... am I not allowed to have an opinion of my own or post in this particular forum because I have only been here in THIS forum for two months? The fact that I am a 36 years old female with my own real life experiences is not enough? --- curious

i have a buddy that came back from iraq. he said at times it sucked.. but for the most part life was pretty simple out there. Its not like what they show on the media.

My nephew also just got home after his second 15 month stay. Watching him watch the media try to explain what is happening over there is amusing. He gets very emo..... matter of fact. He can't stand how our american media has portrayed some of the natives to that country... people he has come to refer to as friends...allies..... not enemies.

But i agree with you on the whole news thing. Lol i like how John stewart was pointing out that NEWSWEEK (which i read, with the economist) editions in ever country besides the US had cover stories on Iraq. THe american edition at the same time had something about "life through pictures" kinda thing.

Then we just have a bunch of programs like Rita Cosby's or Tucker, Fox NEws in general or that new guy on CNN headline news that think they are having debates but usually are just so one sided that they slander any opposing view.

I was in Europe a couple of months ago and i was very impressed with BBC's and even CNN Europe's journalism.

But just through reading something on the internet doesnt really make you more informed. You can be reading something that is written with an opinion. WHich is sort of what you read.
