lower hz = lower notes, higher hz = higher notes

1000hz=1khz

If you set a pair of speakers to 160hz High Pass then they are going to play frequency's 160hz and higher

If you set that to 160hz low pass you will get frequency's lower than 160hz

The lower the frequency the deeper the sound, so you simply direct what sounds you want out of each of your speakers

My sub is set at 80hz (which is pretty common) low pass of course, so it hits notes 80hz or lower

In a ported box your also going to want to set up a subsonic filter (SSF), this controls the lowest freq your sub will play down to. This prevents bottoming out.

Generally, you set it to 10hz below your tuning frequency, or half an octave I believe. 10hz is the usual safe-place and easy thing to do though.

have u ever heard your speakers bottom out on certain notez? like low or high notez

1) Google tutorials.

2) Take it to someone who knows what they're doing.

You will destroy your equipment by hooking it up wrong / playing with the features of which you don't know what it's purpose is.

Learn the basics and you'll better understand what question to ask from there.

nice gear...

anyway, subs usually play from around 80hz on down, mids usually play from around 80hz on up to around 2000hz (a.k.a. 2k), then tweets play from around 2k on up

lpf = low pass filter which is a crossover (xover) that controls what frequencies the subs will play

hpf = high pass filter which is a crossover that controls what frequencies the mids/highs will play

use Method 2 and 3 to set your amps gain... http://www.thesuicidaleggroll.com/gain.htm

ROE has 0db tones in their download section.... http://www.realmofexcursion.com/

ok i will set my sub x over to 80 hz but the thing is is that i could control my main volume with both hu and eq if i have my hu @ 0 volume and i try to raise the volume with the eq' i cannot hear nothin till i raise my hu's volume so idk how that works do i just raise my hu's volume the whole way n control the volume with the eq?

and another very confusing thing is that i could control my khz and hz with both hu and eq lol do both work together on the tunnin? or just the eq alone? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif or do i just ignore all the hu's functions other than the volume control and control everything with my eq?

I have not but I use my subsonic filter now, which prevents that. I wasn't sure if it was really necessary (i have a sealed enclosure). But no, I've never heard it bottom out, mind you it's been in for 4 days now.

well i was done with my install today and first couple of minutes playing i hear them bottomin :[ .. on low notes and certain high notez, are the eq's filters already on? or are they always workin.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

and since i have 1500 wrms going to 2 12 ssd's it should be loud i was disapointed not loud enough but im sure its because my tunnin is bad rightnow

can bottomin out ocur to do to wirin your subs wrong too ?

also on the flat side of my eq theres a line that shows the filters frequencys on the subsonic filter theres a button to move if u want it on 15 hz or 30 hz its on 30 hz rightnow, then after that theres another button that you move either to Full range or 100HZ HP, rightnow its on 100HZ HP.

you dont want your sub on high pass

you want it at 80hz low pass (common setting, everyone has their preferences)

and you want the subsonic to kick it at the lower point before cutoff occurs
