Gain set properly, seems a little high?

I went through the whole tutorial. i have a bxi 1206d. I did the calculation thing and i put in 1000 rms @ 1 ohm because i know the amp doesnt do the full 1200. calculated it to be at 31.6 volts. i set everything to 0. the gain is set properly and its about 3/4 way up on the dial. it seems a little high i had the gain 1/2 way the amp never got warm. im just worried about frying the amp. should everything be cool with it like this.

 
imo using a dmm is a waste of time. look and listen to the cone movement for mechanical limits and most likely your gonna smell the vc getting hot reaching the thermal limits
