Gain Remotes, are they bad?

i thought i heard in here before they are bad for the amp, i searched but couldn't find anything. i was wondering because one came with my kx600.1. my deck doesn't have the feature to turn down the bass. I'm not in any need to turn anything down (haha:naughty: ) but you never know.

no, theyre not bad in of themselves, but you shouldnt need bass boost (that's what that thing controls)

Most will control the gain, and will not exceed where the gain is set. I dont know of any that will control the bass boost, but there might be some..

is it a bass boost knob or a gain knob?

both can be bad if used improperly.

EDIT: my current amp's remote is bass boost. it sucsk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i was hoping for attenuation like the previous poster mentioned.

I don't actively use it. I put it where I think it should be then I put in the trunk. As long as you don't use it as a device for volume control, I see no problems. Without it, I have little to no bass. it is only set at 30* though

it says "bass level" and goes up to 11
