gain knob makes scratchy sound!

I have an old 2ch MTX that sounds really good! but the gain knob puts out a scratchy sound when adjusting. tends to be more in the middle, also if you touch it it has an effect on one channel and the speaker wont play or will play very distorted. It makes no noise if the gain is full.

Anyway to fix this?

Remove the knob and spray the pot with WD40.

Then rotate it back and forth several times, that should solve it.

Sounds simple, I'll do that. I didnt want to open it up since its a pretty old amp and still has the warrty sticker intact, o well fuctionabilty is more important than asthetics.

I had the same problem with my brand new AQ1200. Rather than messing with it I just took it out. Maybe I will try this WD-40 trick!

wd 40 trick is a good bet. may not be your entire issue but it won't hurt to try it. got an old jensen 4 channel amp going strong with only some wd 40 about a year ago
