Gain: Can't reach desired voltage STILL

...Even with my gain and sub-out all the way up, i can't reach my desired voltage...

Head Unit: Pioneer DEH6800MP - I did the "pioneer fix" to make sure RCAs were grounded

Amp: = Power Acoustik A2400DB, purchased BNIB from etronics.com two weeks a go

Math: 900rms @ 4ohms, Square Root of (900*4) = 60

The closest i get with the gain all the way is 58 or so

When i check my pre-out voltage on my RCA's, I set my DMM to AC-200 and run a 50hz test tone at 3/4 volume, neg lead on the outer ring and pos lead on the post... i get .2

Any ideas guys???

oh, wait -- I think what you've discovered is that at 4 ohms that amp isn't capable of producing 900w. Which I don't think would be a surprise to anyone.

Give it a shot at 800w (~56V) - which may still clip that amp.

Probably get flamed for this, but why dont you just set it by ear. That is the way I grew up doing it, haven't burnt a sub yet that way. If that fails get a bigger/better amp.

on an amp not accurately rated, that might be the best option.

I'm always afraid that i'm doing something wrong... Plus I can't hear distortion in bass... I know what sounds good to me, but that is the extent of it. I have set it by ear now and it is loud, sounds good, etc.

I believe you are right N2Audio, i don't think this amp is capable of 900rms at 4 ohms. Since it is overrated, I will try 2-300rms below the rated level and call it a day.

Yeah I would just run your tone and turn the gain up till it clips then back it down a little and call it a day.

turn off all processing, set bass & treble to 0, turn volume upto 61/62. Then set your gain.

my pioneer goes to volume 30, and i set my gain for my fronts at volume 23 with the SLA(souce level adjustment) at +4(the highest it goes) and everything flat and a 150 hz 0 db tone for them, i think it's sendin a clipped signal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/ponder.gif.ec2527b23f1d287b60dcbba54f95edba.gif
