Fuse Box Question

Ok, I got a new HU and it says I am supposed to connect the power lead directly to the battery or the fuse box/block. I talked to a car audio guy and he said just connect it to the positive end of the fuse box. Well, how would I get to the fuse box, where is it located in most cars? I have a fuse box under my hood, is that the right one? If it's easier to get to than the battery I'd like to do it.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I run my power wire directly to the battery with an inline fuse.
