Ok my son runs 2 Jl amps a 300/4 and a 1000/1. The 300 has a recommended fuse rating of 30 and the 1000 has a 100amp rating. He blew a 100 ANL last night so I popped in an extra 150 we had. Its working fine.. My question is would you run a 100 or does it matter if you run it higher? Should you use the fuse rating that JL provides? Also the new dist block I bought to run 1/0 into has AGU fuses. They only go to 100amp and I am wondering if I use it will I have to replace fuses all the time or not? Just seems the ANL are so MUCH more beefier. I have looked at getting him a digital midi one also but since I have the AGU one I was wondering if I should keep it or send it back and get an ANL or MIDI type one that accepts larger fuses?

Peace

Always fuse based on the wire you are protecting. If you are running 1/0 that is rated to 300a, use a 300a fuse. Never use anything other than ANL fuses for 1/0. If you are running 1/0 now, check the rating of the wire, but you can be pretty sure it is at least 250a.

Ok.. I am running 250amp ANL from the front to the rear battery and also from the alt to the ne batt for the big. I guess I will send the AGU back and get the midi digital one I was looking at for him.. OK so if running to a fused dist block should I run 1 150amp and 1 100amp or run 2 250's?

TY,. Jeff

No need for a distro if you have dual batteries. I would just run each amp directly off the rear battery. Use whatever size wire each amp accepts. JL says both amps accept 4 gauge wire. Here is an example:

Yea I went ahead and got the fused digital dis block as I do run 4 ga out from the rear batt so I did go with 100 midi for the 300/4 and 150 for the 1000/1 midi fuses.. I got the dist block so it lights up for him and shows amps and volts..

TY so much for your help.

Peace, Jeff
