ORIGINAL: LS1killin92stang

Well, Im 17 and a huge ebay fan....its like the internet wal mart....when I got my stang back when i was 14 i started lookin on ebay buyin **** to make a "killer system" well I didnt have much money then and I couldnt drive at the time either but point being I bought Pyramid surrounds, a American legacy 4way amp pyramid "800watt" 2way amp and 2 12" pyamid subs....that did sound OK....when I was 14 i thought it was the ****, now I got a lil more money and alot more expierence and I upgraded to a fairly new name....thats takin huge steps and are really doin well....Audiobahn which I now kno is a killer company....Im not saying there the best, but I will say they kill Kicker and Memphis and can Hang with JL's if you got the right stuff, on ebay u can get a nice system pretty cheap, heres what I suggest....get a pioneer Premier deckatleast DEHP-4600, but preferaly sumthing with 3 rear outputs (front rear subs) buy you audiobahn surrounds (ne where from 100-500 on ebay for 4) well worth it!! then get atleast 400x4 RMS audiobahn surround amp to power them, then get you 2 audiobahn 12s the ones I have are AW1251T's 400RMS 800peak then get you a R/T band pass box, trust me bandpass....when tuned right....can stomp open, vented and ported boxes.....then get you the audiobahn A8002T amp, its 800RMSx1 at 4ohms hook all this up with a 4ga lead, 5farad cap, optima batt and around a 90amp alt. and have the box tuned you got yourself a NICE *** sytem Clear highs deep lows and enough thump to blow the seal around ur back glass...well on a Foxbody ne way...I did it(the seal wont to good no way but thats still pretty nice....another good thing to do, is dynamat as much of the car as u can afford or get this stuff called Acoustimesh it comes in a can and its like foam, u spay it ne where u want and it expands like 15x its size....fill ur doors witl it, and u wait like 10 min and roll the window down, it goes down just like normal and cuts its grove in the foam....u say well what If my motor wears out and I cant get to it thru the foam.....not to worri it can be either torn out or disolved with brake cleaner. both of my doors and my hatch and inside my spoiler have it, and it REALLY holds the DBs in the car, 153.9DB last time I was at Fast Freddys on the same system as above with about $700 invested(not counting acoustimesh and dynamat. My floors and roof and fire wall are completly dynamated that cost about $400 alone, Another good thing...I sit in my car goin 70down the highway with transfer trucks on both sides and cant hear nothin but my exaust. But seriously it is deff a waste of time and money buying ne thing not "name brand" i mean i kno my mom wouldnt buy me the name brand clothes back in the day and i didnt care but when it comes to my car, ima use the best of the best and wont settle for less.

o and another good idea....fill in the tire well for the spare with acoustimesh and have a custom cut 3/4 MDF board cut and permanatly placed in the trunk not only to limitvibration, but u get rid of that stock fiberboard that gts moist and crumbles (in the fox body ne way) and u gett a firm place to mount ur battery in the rear, and mount ur sub box....if u drag race or street race.....it is a good idea to bolt it down u hit a wall at 120mph and the car comes to a dead stop....that box wont and it could take ur head with it lol. well Ive rambled on enough I hope sumone can take use of my expierence and they come out good. Thanks, Tony

He's the perfect customer to fleece.

Paying $400 for sound deadening is just a small part of that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

but I will say they kill Kicker and Memphis and can Hang with JL's if you got the right stuff,

I like the user name as well...really shows maturity.

I also enjoyed the part about ruining, I mean, deadening his doors with expandable foam //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That's pretty good. I like the part about rolling down your windows to " cut a slot" for them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Clue #1 that your sense of hearing is somewhat off.

Audiobahn which I now kno is a killer company....Im not saying there the best, but I will say they kill Kicker and Memphis and can Hang with JL's if you got the right stuff,
Kicker, Memphis and JL have won competitions in their respective classes - several IASCA SQ champions have run Memphis front stages, and Kicker has been the choice of *many* competitors (Gary Biggs, anyone?) in SPL and even SQ events. Where is Audiobahn on that list? Oh yeah - a competition judge doesn't give a shit about how much chrome it has, so I guess Audiobahn would be at a distinct disadvantage.

then get you a R/T band pass box, trust me bandpass....when tuned right....can stomp open, vented and ported boxes.....
Clue #2 - "vented" and "ported" are the same thing. They're both terms used to describe a standard bass reflex enclosure. And what is an "open" box? Open baffle? IB? What?

I'll agree with you that BP boxes can get very, very loud if properly built, but a pre-fab box is not going to get you anything except a system that sounds like ***. If you want to invest the time to build one for SPL, more power to you, but I don't think it's a project you'll be able to do with your level of comprehension.

And pure SPL isn't the only thing a car stereo is good for, FYI.

or get this stuff called Acoustimesh it comes in a can and its like foam, u spay it ne where u want and it expands like 15x its size....fill ur doors witl it, and u wait like 10 min and roll the window down, it goes down just like normal and cuts its grove in the foam....u say well what If my motor wears out and I cant get to it thru the foam.....not to worri it can be either torn out or disolved with brake cleaner. both of my doors and my hatch and inside my spoiler have it,
Good way to warp your outer door skin, and if the stuff isn't completely moisture-proof it's almost guaranteed to rust out your doors very quickly.

and it REALLY holds the DBs in the car, 153.9DB last time
What mic was that on? Where was the sensor placed? Any doors/windows open? A simple score means nothing.

My floors and roof and fire wall are completly dynamated that cost about $400 alone,
Someone made a nice profit off you. Doing that in RAAMmat 60BXT or Second Skin Damplifier would have saved you quite a bit and sacrificed nothing. Dynamat Extreme is a good product, but it's overpriced compared to the other butyl-based deadeners on the market today.

But seriously it is deff a waste of time and money buying ne thing not "name brand" i mean i kno my mom wouldnt buy me the name brand clothes back in the day and i didnt care but when it comes to my car, ima use the best of the best and wont settle for less.
With all the supposed shopping you do on Ebay and online, I'm surprised you still feel this need to cling to mainstream products that market exactly to your demographic - the teenage "enthusiast" that really doesn't know what he's talking about. I would have thought you would have found companies like RAAMaudio or Second Skin, places that aren't sold in brick and mortar shops but are a much better value.

Just my observations.

Now give me a link to post that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
