Yeah, I'd normally say the same but he's obviously not looking for anything fantastic if he only wants 300W, so if he wants to blow his money then I say let him. We all have to start somewhere and it's not worth arguing with the noobs

hey, i was a noob once too... but i didnt bow down to a brand before i knew what else was out there. I had 5 different brands of stuff in my 1st setup. Preconceived ideas about equipment wastes money... you get stuck on a brand and get tunnel vision. There are much better products out there for the same or less money. OP should do some research and could easily get 2x the output and 2x the quality out of using a combination of manufacturers. Im not saying JL should not be used, but inform yourself before supergluing yourself to one line.

I definately can't afford the amp

I'm prob going to have to get a used one or buy a smaller one or older model

the ones at the shop run about 140-300 for the kind im looking for

But from what it sounds like, OP is buying his first system and does not want any more than 300W. So if he wants to blow his money on some overpriced JL stuff, I'm sure he will be satisfied either way; anything is better than stock...

JL is good stuff, but it is overpriced. You could have a much louder system for the price of the JL equipment. I'd take a look at the classifieds if I were you... there's nothing wrong with getting used stuff and you will find awesome equipment at great prices
