Frustration With Orion 2500d

all my wiring is looking good....i have 1/0 goin from batt do a dist block where it turns into dual 4 that goes into the amp
'looking good' isn't enough....i'd CHECK them all and make SURE they're good. if you've blown up 2 2500D's out of nowhere....i'd say there is a fault in your wiring somewhere.

well how would i know........i checked every spot where it is connected and it is all secure and no wire is exposed..........i dunno how else i would check it........and i just checked my HPF & LPF....... LPF is just above the 50 mark...so prolly around 55HZ....and HPF is just below 33Hz......i set this using the tutorial on the website using my box tuning of 32 Hz as the reference.

EDIT: and my 4 channel audiobahn is connected from the same distro block ( it has four 4 awg terminals)..........and it hasnt given me a single isssue for over a year and a half

btw......i havent even attempted to turn the amp back on since this happened in fear of blowing my subs with the distorted signal or causing further damage to the amp........the smoke basically means the amp is toast though right?

these amps go bad when u dont have a secure ground or power wire hooked up somewhere. They dont like loose wires they need a firm connection, thats wit any set up but the 2500d's hates loose wires they go crazy

yah.........but i triple checked all my connections and all of em are secure.....this is literally driving me crazy

i had the same thing happen to me. this is what happened. I was driving along and all of a sudden at 1/4 volume it makes a crackle noise from the subs so i immediatly cut the stereo off. I pulled over and popped the trunk the subs were fine so i turn the radio back on and the speakers were making a crackling noise and wasnt putting out the bass it normally would. After major troublshooting it came out to be the amp and the speakers are fine. Once i get my amp back from Orion i will let u know exactly went wrong.

Very strange problem, but here's a few ideas. Make sure you are not grounded on to a painted surface, make sure it's bare metal. Check to see if your wiring under the hood isn't starting to melt the plastic on your power wire down to bare metal creating a short.

thats almost exactly what happened to me the 1st time.......this time might be the same but i havent turned it back on yet so i dunno if its working at all now....

well at least i know im not the only one its happened to

Your saying all the connections are good and you have checked them all. Maybe you have, but I would go out and redo all of them. Take em off, check the surface, make sure its bare metal, maybe even clean them all up more, it wont hurt. Then you will know %100 that everythings fine.

yah....thats probably a good idea......i think i might do that tonight if i can get my car out of the rain

well i powered it up and the same thing happened as before........it powers up just fine but the output is about a tenth of what it should be and very distorted.......so i took it out and quadruple checked all my connections......all of which were tightly secured........but just to be safe i re-sanded every ground connection in my car b4 installing my back-up amp...and took out every power connection and re-connected and tightened em.....i still dont understand why it happened tho........it just doesn't make sense to me
