here's the story........i bought an orion 2500d back in october or so from shane (HCCAFan) and about a month after gettin it installed it went up in smoke for no apparent reason......and Shane replaced with it no issues......except with a WCC5000 this time instead because they were out of the 2500d's.........this was no problem since they are the same amp basically anyway.........so when i got the new amp i set everything up myself this time because i didnt want to take any chances (i let the shop who installed it do it the first time).........i used a dmm to set gains, ssf, etc..........so for the past 4 months i havent had a single issue with it until today........i was driving to work and everything was going fine..so when i pull into the parkin lot i put it on attentuate so the volumes isn't too loud.....about 30 secs later the bass cuts out and then about 30 more secs later my subs start poppin and the amp starts smokin........anybody have any ideas as to what could've gone wrong?.......i took all the precautions to make sure the amp lasted me and it still ended up shittin out on me........i havent been able to get in contact with shane yet but i do still have my warranty on it from him........i'm jus frustrated that its happened with 2 amps.......has anyone else experienced issues with the 2500d/wcc5000?........my shitty audiobahn has outlasted 2 orions.......i dont know if i even want to deal with it anymore......feedback on the situation would be appreciated..........thanx

I'd have to go out and look at the LPF & HPF..cuz i dont remember but its pouring out right now..........but my electrical consists of a 220 amp alt, big 3, and optima yellow top under the hood..........i never had any problems with dimming or anything with it.........and the orion is fused with a 250 amp fuse, which isn't blown........and the since the amp is wired down to 1 ohm i set the gain to 50 with the dmm

ive always been told that anything more then 5 volts to a 2500D will make it go poof. so if ur HU has like 8 volt preouts then id bet thats the cause

no my HU is a old panasonic........i think the pre voltage output is 2 volts.....definately nothing higher than 4

When I was using my friends 1501D a while back that happened a few times to me. It would cut out and then it would be crackling and popping and going crazy, I thought it was the rca's so I would wiggle them around and try to fix it. It turned out it was the power wire going to the amp, I had an in-line fuse wired in and the wire coming out of the fuse had a bad connection. It would slip out a little bit and get a bad connection causing the problem. Just something to think about, I don't know if this could be the problem with your setup or not......

hrmm interesting. ive done everything possible to my 2500D and its still goin strong (16v .5 ohm daily driver FTW!) i'd check your power/ground wiring and make sure its all good and no wire exposed, etc.
