Front stage driver locations

Ok. Finally finished with school for the semester! On to my front stage. I'm putting a 3 way up front. Already bought my speakers. Now the big question....where to put them, lol. I took off my dash grill today and the midrange can drop in there with a bracket adaptor of course. I know my midbass is going in the door. But what about the mid and tweeter?

I either want to put them in the kicks.

Or tweeter in a pillar and midrange in dash. Any pros/cons about either way? Anyone running their speakers in these locations?

I'm working with 4" dayton midrange and 1" Image dynamics ctx-25.

I'm not going all the way active. I'm running my 8" active but the other two passive for now. But if I put the 4" up there, it'll probably go in the dash where factory speakers were.

I've done mid/tweet high in door with midbass in the stock location with fair results. Now I have mid/tweet in the kick and midbass in stock location which I think is supperior. Really depends on the car and the on or off-axis response of the drivers you're using. If you're using pro-audio/HT type drivers they will want to be run on-axis generally, so keep that in mind. If you wire them up and get some duct tape to temp them into place you can test the imaging that way.

For kicks, the q-logic kickpanels are available for just about any car out there and IMHO are well worth the money particularly if you don't have the time or skills to fiberglass your own, really after you figure in materials and time into building your own, they're a fair deal anyway I think.

I've never messed with kicks before but have looked into the q-logic panels. I assume they're built just as well as if I tried? Lol. The only con I see if I order them is i'm running 4" and the smallest they have is 5.25. I don't know if that would look stupid if it doesn't fit the whole hole or what.

If you are putting 8 in the door just make sure you deaden the hell out of your doors.

I have my 8's in the kicks in a sealed .2 sealed pods.

Those Q-logic kick panels are ok.

Can you Fab your own kick-panels???

get a laser light pen, helps with sound angle so you don't mess them up.
True. If I go that route, i'll do that.

8's in the kicks? I'd like to see that. Yeah, my doors are good to go. What do you mean Fab?
