Front Stage Componets

how are the new ES tweeters in comparison to the DRT 26s? for the money the DRT-26s are nice. they where close to the high-end tweeters I've hear form morel and dynaudio..
I've got a good amount of listening time with DRT-26S (silk) and DRT-26A (aluminum) with no time listening on the titanium variant. I have had a lot of listening time with all sorts of music with ES-1200iS, installed in sail panels on axis. Between these three tweeters I have greatly enjoyed all of them. DRT-26A and ES-1200iS are both very well behaved with very realistic sound on live instruments and unaltered voices. Coming from a background of playing trumpet in a variety of school bands as well as seeing live bands in a variety of venues, I expect that to mean sometimes the music will get harsh. These tweeters will not sound "warm" unless the material ought to sound that way.

DRT-26 is still the only tweeter I know of that offers the quick swap ability to try different dome materials. However, with the ES tweeters you do gain the advantage of a replaceable V.C. and diaphragm in case an error or equipment fault occurs. It's a tweeter recone kit. One last note, ES-1200iS has been measured to play flat up to 50 kHz. Of course, nobody can hear anything that high, so that's following suit with a bit of audio mythology from the Japanese hi-fi culture.

id get the IDs. Focals can be bright. the IDs are very balanced sounding. deaden your doors, get a good amp for them, theyll do the trick

I have a set of Morel Tempo Ultra 602 speakers up front in my 1991 Honda Accord EX. THESE BABIES ROCK!!! I looked at the equivalent Focals (don't remember the model #) and the tweets were very bright. With these Morels, the high end is extremely smooth but very detailed. When I first put them in, I noticed instruments playing that I had not noticed previously on certain songs. I can play these speakers very loud for a very long period of time and I never get ear fatigue. And, my ears are not ringing when I turn off the system after playing them loud for a long time

Most surprisingly was the bass response. It is deep and very punchy. Almost as if I have a subwoofer, which I currently do not. I did, however, sound deaden my doors and I am sure that helped a lot, also.

If you Google search "Morel Tempo Ultra 602 review" you will find a build log from a guy on diymobilaudio.com. He used these speakers in the build and talks a lot about them. Check out that review.

I got the speakers for about $270 on Ebay. I was a little concerned about authenticity, so I called the U.S. office of Morel and asked them. They said to send a pic of the box (which has the serial number on the outside of the box) and of the backside of the midbass driver. I did that, and they got back to me saying they were, indeed, authentic.

If you get these, you will not be disappointed. They have been the best addition to my audio system.

I was also looking into Morels the Maximo 6, Tempo 6 and Tempo Ultra
