Just purchased a 2002 4Runner and would like to run a set of components up front. Doors are 6.5". Anybody know the max depth I can go in the front without running into any problems? Anybody already have a setup in a 4Runner? Looking to spend about $225 max with shipping. Suggestions are welcome! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Thanks!

Thanks. I ran diamonds in a Tacoma about 8 years ago and they were amazing but I've read that quality has went down. Wonder if this is true??
Yes, it is true. The company sold out and they really are not the same speakers.

I have a 99 4 runner, I don't know whether there are any changes that would effect the speaker placement.

A couple of things about mine:

The depth was 2.5". The window rail makes for sort of a narrow fit.

There is plastic "baffle" that did was too narrow for my speaker's basket. I had to take those out and have new baffles made out of MDF to accomodate my speakers. I painted those bishes with about 10 layers of paint and then applied sound deadener on them to make them water resistant.

I can tell you personally that the Hex comps going for $200 now are not the same quality as the ones that used to cost double or triple that years ago. These $200 Hex comps of today sound hollow and lack sq. The company that purchased Diamond Audio a few years back is misleading consumers by making the Hex look exactly the same but totaly changing the quality and sound of the product.

I put a pair of Boston Pro 6.5 in the doors of a 2000. Worked great.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also, I had to mount them as far forward as posable, the grill comes in contact with the kick panel.

Awesome info guys. I currently have a set of Pioneer Premier 520 PRS's that I think I'm going to get a baffle made for. Seems like I would have to do this with any speaker anyways. Thanks again.
