i listented to a stock stereo in a sebring today. my car brokedown so i borrowed my brother in laws. it sounded so much better than mine. not as loud, but more "full" of sound. my in car speakers consist of a Eclipse SC6500 2way component set, and Pioneer 6x9's in the rear deck. i get no midbass/bass response from my mids at all. i get some from my pioneers. it all just seems to be out of place. the music just doesnt sound full. i have no subwoofer hooked up at the moment since i sold my amp so i need my front and rear fill to sound much better. any ideas? even when i mess with the EQ on the headunit and my eternal clarion EQ, it doesnt make much of adifference. everything is very high pitched (not high pitched noise) but everythingseems to sound like the treble is up waaaay to high. even when i back down the eq settings. it just doesnt sound right. i mean, dont get me wrong. thespeakers sound amazing, but they just dont sound very surround sound-ish. very dull sound.... if u understand what im saying please help

uhhhhh no. they have enough. my comps are 65wRMS and my amp does 75wRMS x2 @ 2ohm. they have plenty ofpower. the music just doesnt seem full. its very high. like someone a shitty headunit that only has bass/treble control and the treble is all the was up and the bass in almost all the way down.

It's the speakers, plain and simple. Less expensive coaxes will often be very bright and lack midrange and bass at moderate volumes...and lack clean sound at high volumes.

Save up some money and get a set of components. Phoenix Gold RSD, CDT, Pioneer PRS, Alpine Type X. Those are in different price ranges, not sure how much you could save up.

could also be the install/deadening

speakers do make a difference but even in comparing the car i have now to my old car

my old car doors sucked and even with my speakers (memphis mclass) pushing 150 rms had almost no midbass

my new car still has it crappy stock speakers powered off the headunit (everything being swapped soon) has like infintely x more midbass just because of how much better the doors are for speakers

try sealing up/deadening the doors - should see an improvement and if not then its probaly the speakers and with the deadening work already done - you're next set of speakers will sound better

my frontstage eclipse components sound GREAT. as do my rear pioneer coaxial 6x9's. they just dont sound "full". but they do sound good. just not as good as i want them to be. im getting a new car soon so when i do, ill deaden, and make 6.5 pods for the doors. i guess i just need to tune them differently since im not using a subwoofer anymore

i dunno ill try and retune them. i had to make an external speaker pod for my 6.5's in my doors, and its not sealed off. theres alot of leaks (air holes in some places) so im guessing thats hindering the bass response. ive heard this same component set in someone elses car, which is why i went wth this component set. they sounded great. just dont sound as good in my car. i think im going to go get new door panels tomorrow, and re install them. make MDF rings and mount them behind the door panel rather than on them. heres a pic of the speaker pod i made. it looks sealed off. but its not. theres a big gap at the bottom of it, between the pod and the door. probly 1/2 inch gap. so its not sealed off

That explains it. Seal the pod to the door, and seal the door panel, so your door is basically one big sealed enclosure for the speaker. That should help a great deal.
