From RE Audio SE 15 to Re Audio XXX18

Hello everyone,

5 yeas ago I bought a Re Audio se 15 D4 with the amplifier hollywood hxa 3k, so I was using 1200 w rms at 2 ohm.

I was thinking to buy a Re Audio xxx18 D2 and use the same amplifier at 1 ohm (1800 w rms).

Is it worth to buy this new subwoofer if I already have that one? Is it going to be much louder?

I have a vauxhall corsa limited edition 2011, do I have enough space in the boot for the box? Because I need to put an entra battery on the side "northstar nsb 100 ft".

I mostly listen hip hop music.

Thanks

You're going to get more power from your amp, upgrading to a better model, and raising your cone area.

As long as you have the room for a proper enclosure, it should be a pretty big difference in output.

Are 1800 w rms enough to make move well this subwoofer or it needs something more powerful?

The problem is that I don't know if there is enough space for that box because the boot is not huge.

How many litres does it need?

I want to improve my bass but I have a doubt.

Is it louder to have 2 Re Audio se15 d4 or 1 Re Audio xxx18 d2?

In both cases I am going to use only one amplifier hollywood hxa 3k.

I went from a jbl w15gti to a re audio xxx18 and the difference was night and day. Had the jbl on 1200 watts and I have the re on about 2500. The xxx model I have is not the split coil though. It looks exactly the same just different coils. Mid to late 2000's I believe. I would run as much power to it as you can. I had 1500 on mine in the beginning and it was good but needed more. Mine is in about 5.5 cubic ft sealed and it gets very low. You'll be looking at almost 150lb for sub and enclosure and if your car is small say goodbye to the handling. Try to put your extra battery up front for weight distribution.

I think I don't have so much space in my boot.

Is it a problem if the box will be smaller?

Based on the internal circuitry and board. The amp only looks like it does 1200 at 1 ohm. Thats if you stay at 1 ohm. There's a thing called box rise, you'll never get 1 ohm power. You will most likely see 2 ohm power ratings when wired to 1 ohm. Read up on box rise and impedance rise.

First thing you need is a properly designed ported box. Measure up the length x width x height you have for your space and report back.

huge problem

It would seem the op would be buying a new xxx. The one I have is the new design(same motor and basket) but it has the overhung coil and not the split coil. My first amp on it was 1500 watts. It wasn't enough to push it hard. Now have 2400 watt rated amp. Works much better. You need very large box! It's a sq 18! I had 8cuft sealed to start and now have 5.5 sealed because I wanted my back seat. 5.5 still hits very low and the sound quality is awesome. So takes a lot of power and space but it's worth it. And if you're buying new it's crazy expensive. Just my opinion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Only good xxx was the v1 that battled with the Brahma.. Good times went from two Armageddon 12's to a pair of adires what a change. Took me weeks to pick between the adire or the re.. Ole shredder gave them hell. Loved that setup even a decade plus later.

Data-Bass

Not sure if you're referring to me but mine isn't reconed. It seems like it's more of an anomaly. I posted a link to the testing that someone did on it. I'm loving mine but the only thing that I can compare it to is the jbl w15gti which it replaced. The xxx sounds 10 times louder with all the sq. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I've never heard of any of those drivers disturbed. I'm from Langley bc and the car audio scene out here must be small. There's a lot of hertz, alpine, audison. I've never been to a car stereo show in my life. Maybe should start looking for some around here.
