Friend needs Help with Setup

Well, my friend is looking for a low cost bass system for his car. He drives a '98 Honda CR-V. I told him to lookinto Rockford Fosgate (as that is what I use). He's gonna build his own box, but he's looking for some recommendations for subs and an amp. His budget is restricted to 500 bucks, +/- a bit. It's gonna be a ported system. And he has also determined that 15's are a bit big. He's thinking 2 x 12s. I recommended the RF T112D2. In a ported box, they seem to do well by providing semi-low to midrange bass. With my system, they do wonders, while the 15s take most of the heavy work. So...what is he looking for:

Subs: 2x quality subs

Amp: A nice one able to power both subs

Mebe a battery...if needed.

Roughly around 500 bucks.

Eventually, at the current time, I don't have a camera that's working. I had one that was working, until my dumb *** dropped in the pool. Since then, I've been to lazy to buy one. But I'll eventually get some up, when either I get a new camera, or I gank one of my friend's. Anywho, advice plz.

maybe look into some non mainstream brands like dd, re, fi, aq. great stuff for the money.
