I am about to "french" (sink the amp into a hole) my amps in my sub box and wanted to see some more pictures, close ups would be great; and ask for general advice.

Im not looking for basic glassing tips...(i have been fiberglassing for a little over a year)

Im mainly looking for tips/advice on "frenching" an amp specifically. Should I make the hole "roll" down the sides of the amp? Roll only slightly in? All the pictures I can find are far away with amp installed and its hard to tell what has been done.

Thanks

I wouldn't suggest doing it to the sub box itself.......that's just one more thing to leak. What I think most ppl do is build the enclosure bigger than necessary, then divide off the sub's enclosure volume from the area that the amps will be "frenched" into.

Also, be sure to run some fans or something on them. Amps in an enclosed envoirnment = quick overheating when driven hard.

dude, he is looking on tips on how to make a baffle for a sub so its flush. not tips on volume size =P

i think i saw a link somewhere in the sticky about it, you make a baffle of normal size, then another one with the inner dimension large enough to fit the sub inside, then use a router to make it U shaped on the top, and staple the fabric to the inside ring, then insert your cutout of the baffle that sits above.. its weird .. lemme see if i can make a pic...

Actually the first reply was about dead on.

I should have been more descriptive. I wont b e frenching the amps into the subs chambers...i have an amp rack seperate from my subs chambers.

Fans Ill rememember that.

Anyone with upclose or in progress pictures?

i think hes building it out of MDF, kinda like cut all sides maybe 1 1/2 inch too long, so that he can put another piece on with a box kinda like a frenched license plate on a trucks gate. so its flush with the side/front/rear/bottom/top wall where ever he decides to put it. so just make your sides a reasonable length too long and put your wall where it should be for the correct airspace, and the put another wall in front of that one, but cut out where u want ur amp to go and make a little dish for it. then bolt it up.
