Think about the people you wanted to speak to in this thread....why did you want to speak to them about the purchase? Because they had used the HU.
Thats how most if not all things are in this hobby. Until you use/experience it, you cannot offer nearly as much help as someone who has. You will never learn, if you don't try it.

I know this to be true from my own experiences. When I first really started building setups, I didn't have a job and was building off money I scraped up from random jobs. B/c of that, I couldn't afford the equipment I wanted but I could read ALL about it. Still, it wasn't until I actually got my hands on the gear that I was able to understand it.

I say go for it if you have the cash but I doubt you'll get 250 for your 80PRS. You can get a new one for just a few bucks more.

Either way, don't be afraid to try out new gear because you don't know as much as others.
Good job, bro.

I'll get you a pic of it if you want. It's bit clunky but still smaller than an Alpine remote. And its got a little track wheel on it.
3 way is tough because there is just... so much going on. There's an inside joke quote over at DIYMA that one of the regulars likes to say... "If you can't get a 2 way to sound good, a 3 way will rape your mother."

ANYBODY can appreciate that high end of a HU. It's a treat and a pleasure to own such an amazing piece. Think about it... it's been called the best HU in the world. It's an honor to have one in my dash. And I hate Pioneer. Lol.

You know what's funny is that I have all of this extra processing. I have an extra 15bands of EQ over what the 80prs had... but I use less of it than when I had the 80 with the same exact setup. That's how good it sounds.
LOL. Well. I definitely do want to learn more. I send the guy on ebay a message and made him a offer. I'll see what he says!

That is why I put a mention to taylorfade. Because I knew he had one and I really wanted his opinion on it. I know with time and reading the manual or asking questions I can obviously learn to use the HU to its full capabilities.

And you are right. Reading up on stuff really does help...but hands on experience is the only way to really go about it.

I made the guy an offer. I'll see what he says. I only threw out $250 shipped for it because I see the 80prs go for that all the time used. My brother said he might want it.
i wouldn't hesitate to put a 99RS in my car. if I wanted to spend that much on a HU - that would be the one.

the Audison crossovers are leaps and bounds better than what you get in the 80.
Ok. So I got the P99RS for $842 shipped. The remote isn't working but I'll see if I can get it fixed.
@TaylorFade ;
what do you think of the price I paid? Right where it is worth I would assume?

I am broke now :FYI:

That's abotu $100-150 less than market value. Very nice.

But the remote is one of the things I love about the unit. I would have expected a little more consideration from the seller if the remote was jacked.

That is why he sold for $842. He said he would have wanted $920 firm if it wasn't for the remote. I'm going to see if I can get the remote fixed.

Do you know if the 80PRS and P99 use the same wireing harness?

They do not.
FUDGEEEEEEEEEEEE...That means I have to do it again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I hard wire my head units. Well. At least with the p99...there is no improving on it. Last HU I will probably ever buy.

Woah. The P99 comes with a 75 amp fuse. Is that for real??? Why? I am used to HU's using a 10amp fuse.
