Doing the big 3 on the stock alt.

So i found where the positive lead comes off the alt, Deep in the engine bay. So its really hard to get to which makes it a pain. I get a socket on it, 3/8 if anyone cares, But when i start twisting it, it moves the hole plastic piece with it and wont turn the bolt and i don't wanna use too much pressure cause i don't wanna break anything. Im turning it towards the driver side. Is that right. I think that would be left loosey.

Anyways, once i even get the bolt off if i ever do. How in the hell am i supposed to fit a 0g terminal on that, It has plastic covers up the sides. Do i have to crack them so i could screw on the 0g?

Anyone who has done it let me know. If not im gonna have to get 4g and do the big 3..

Side note: And damm got the wire and anl fuse holder + fuse from scotty today and it makes 4g look puny! No way could i ever run 0g through my car, that is some fat wire! Ill snap some pics to show you what im talking about with the alt

What do i do!

i wouldn't know where to start on that.. I would not know how to take it out, replace belt etc.. Sounds like more work than its worth. I already get 12.85 v car off at the batt and at the back with the car off. THen 15.08 with the car running, at the back and the back. Is that 15 bad?

Think its worth it. And i was getting 15 volts with the system on music on about 10 sub bumpin. I used to get 12.65 resting car off then i did the batt to chassis and got 12.85 resting now from the 0g.. Idk how important that the alt to batt would be considering im only going to be running around 1100 watts, and im only running 800 now. So i don't find it being worth the money. And if i do start to get problems im really looking into the yellowtop. If i have enough money lol. 17 year old making only liek 500 a month :S

hey im unemployed and i still try to find money for stuff like that when needed. u will need it. i only ran 600 rms total and did a 143.7 then switched from 4 gauge to 1/0 and did the big 3 and went to 144.8 so i gained over a db from just changing a couple wires.

yeah i remember seeing it there once, there wasnt pics but the finished product and the guy gave details how to do it. Just said where the wire was, which i showed in the pic and said to run it to batt positive. Thanks for the link though, ill go back there and see, maybe im wrong

Oh i see this is the one i was talking about

Apparently im having the same problem he did, with the tower twisting. As i have tried and tried and cannot break the clips going up the sides of the tower i guess i just may have to do a run of 4g... which next to that 0g is going to haunt me. Its really my only option i suppose as i wouldn't wanna dish out money to a shop just to put on a wire for me..

let the shop do it! i had 4 gauge all around. power and big 3. then i changed all 4 wires with 1/0. an i promise theres a way. u just need the will to do it. i have 4/0 power and ground going for my power wire through the engine bay and i have like 0 engine space. u just need some willpower. thats what i had to do. just buckle down and do the deed
