Anyone that calls a Viper V10 low tech is uneducated in cars. Anyone that thinks the corvette more is high tech is also stupid. The corvette motor is the same basic motor chevy has had since the 60's. Sure they changed the heads and its all aluminum now but its still a pushrod motor. Theres alot more technology in the viper motor then the vette motor. First its a V10. The Viper just needs some forced induction to be the meanest thing on any street. Hennesy has a New package for them called the Venom 1000. A viper with twin turbos producing 1000hp.
Another thing. Why the heck would anyone diss a lightning or cobra? Eaither one I have seen beat corvettes. And believe me living in Bowling Green, KY I see plenty of vettes on the streets. I see appr. 10 vettes a day if not more. Yes lightnings do way around 4-5000 pounds. The new trucks are heavy. My F100 weighs 2800 pounds. My 97 F150 weighs over 5000 pounds. 2003 Cobras have anywhere from 360-390 RWHP. For around $1000 You can get it to 500RWHP. Simple bolt ons and plug ins. All you have to do is be able to control the computer and stuff more boost into it and put side pipes on it. Lightnings are the same way, although you can't pull HP out of them as easy due to the 16 valve heads.
Mustangs and camaros are in the same class. Dodge has nothing in this class
Corvettes and cobras are in another class
Vipers in a class all to there own. If you have never set your butt in a "low tech" viper you should try it sometime. For "low tech" it sure feels alot faster then any vette or camaro I've rode in.
Oh and ir you're wondering about my user name I have a 63 F100 stepside with a 347 smallblock twinturbo pushing out over 700hp. And YES you can see the dyno sheet.
