so i was looking at my wires yesterday under my hood, and i noticed that alt to battery + doesn't go directly to the battery, i looks like it goes through the fuse box, and then out through another wire... how would i replace that? can i just keep the stock wire on there and then run 1/0 straight to the battery?

the car is a 2003 ford taurus.. any input would be cool..

thanks...

Joe.

The pos. wire from your alternator runs to a solinoid usually located near your battery. On my 93 F-150 I took the stock wires off and replaced them with 1awg. makes for a cleaner look. Run a piece of 1awg. to the solinoid and from there run another piece of 1awg to the pos post of your battery.

you ALWAYS want to leave the stock wires alone, unless you know exactly what your doing. When your doing the big 3 your ADDING not REPLACING. Just follow the instructions in the big 3 thread.

do not remove your factory wiring. Just add some 1/0 wire from the alt to battery. It is very easy, just find a safe path to run the wire and attach it to something to keep it from hot surfaces, fans, belts, etc.... just wire tie it to something. and don't forget the fuse. 250A for 1/0
