A poem that I wrote for my daughter's when they were growing up. I quit writing when I was little after being teased. I only wrote again for my wife and daughter's. I thought I would share this one. I hope that people with kids can relate. Roast me if you will. It is titled my hands are shrinking.
My Hands Are Shrinking
I want you to know what brought on this thinking
It's because I noticed my hands are shrinking
When you girls were little your hands were so tiny
We'd clip your nails and wipe your hiney
Then, like a tree, you started to grow
We taught you how to clip and where to go
Every morning we dressed you with care
Little princesses in dresses with beautiful hair
One day you thought you'd dress yourself
The clothes were so weird you looked like and elf
We held your hands and walked you to school
You cried and screamed till you started to drool
As you girls got older and wise
The speed of your growing made me open my eyes
From babies to now you've come so far
Pretty soon I'll be teaching you to drive a car
I dread the day that will arrive too soon
My babies not at home is a depressing tune
When that day comes and I start to cry
Just know that you two are the apple of my eye
Without knowing you've taught me and Mommy quite a lot
Raising two parents since you were tots
No matter how old you get or how tall each of you stands
I will always remember those tiny little hands
Just as sure as I am that your eyes will keep blinking
My Hands Are Shrinking
My Hands Are Shrinking
I want you to know what brought on this thinking
It's because I noticed my hands are shrinking
