Football has become such a pansy sport

Hines Ward deserves a few fines. He blocks to hurt and makes sure he does it when the defender is totally unaware of the in coming hit. The Brady rules have cost many teams a very close game against the Pats.

I know I'm usually in the minority amongst football fans when I say this, but I would be glad to see football take a stronger stance against hits that injure other players. I have never understood why people get excited about a hit against another human being that is so devastating that something is broken, they're concussed, etc. Look at the quality of life football players have once they're retired; no matter how much they're getting paid, I wouldn't want to put anyone through that, especially when we could really do without such things.

I do agree on this. Its hard to play at full speed and walk on eggshells at the same time. You also have to look at it in a business aspect. If you let Ray Lewis, Polumalu, Merrimem, and these freak of nature boys to have open season on a guy like peyton manning ITS A WRAP!!! they will mess around and Kill a Qb. And for the NFL, thats bad business. You know how many qb's will be injured for the season, or these wr comming acroos the middle. who would go to an Indy game with no Manning? Its all businees. they dont do it because the #1 priority is the players. its the MONEY!!!

I do and dont agree with rules that protect the QB. I hate seeing flags thrown when a guy accidentally hits a qb when you can clearly tell he couldnt stop or did it on accident. but i understand that the qb is one of the few players on the field that are the most vulnerable. while throwing a football you really cant protect yourself, unlike a RB taking a hit that can brace himself.

but on the other hand you can argue that the lineman are there to protect him, so itll be a debate till the end of time.

OP, have you ever played football yourself? other than pop warner when you were a kid? if you have you would never consider football a "pansy sport" no matter how many rules their are. even with pads and a helmet, it hurts.

Oh and BTW.. Hines Ward is one of the best WR in the Game and those blocks were clean and legal
one of the best sure. but you also have 80 percent of the league talking about how hes also the dirtiest player in the game. sure most of his hits are "legal" but its more the unwritten rules of the game that he breaks. most of his hits i see on sportscenter are blindsiding guys that have no chance of making a play. if i ever saw him lay a linebacker out head on, then ill give him some props, but thats usually not the case.

having played football i understand those kinds of hits are fun to deliver, but that doesnt make them right.

oh. I've played football myself. How many times do Hines go over the middle and get popped while his hands are up trying to make a catch! It goes both ways. He gets hit and he delivers the hits. Look what ray did to Ochocinco!! its rough over that middle. so sometimes, the wr's have a chance to get back at them and they take the opportunity. Keep your head on a swivel!

yes i played in High school as a Safety/MLB and made the All-Star Team...never played for college though, doubted i would have made it to OU. played and started rugby for the club team though

as for me calling it a pansy sport...the reason i say is out of frustration.. QBs seem to have more rules to protect them than others. yeah a whole lotta guys come after one guy...but if ure receivers are good and in one to one coverage, advantage offense
