well, i want to make one for my 15" avalanche (still in the mail), but i'm not quiet sure how to go about designing it. i'm not very familiar with any software that can do it. does anyone already have a design for this sub or can you show me which programs can do the job? any help is appriciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I assume you either a) are going to use this in your home or b) drive another vehicle than a Jetta, because you won't be able to fit a true folded horn into a trunk. Can't do it.

There aren't very many programs to design horn-loaded loudspeakers (the math gets hairy quickly), though there are some resources to look at...go to http://www.decware.com and go to the "Speakers" section, they have some designs there. Also, the links found in this thread: http://forum.soundillusions.net/showthread.php?t=53059 are worth a look.

Horn-loaded speakers are fun, but they're not for anyone that has space problems //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

:-/ man, i thought i could get away with 6 or 7 cuft, but those things like massive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

well, what would u guys recommend for a vented box? the ascendant site doesn't have any recommendations for vented and the guy i ordered from wasn't much help, he was giving me round figures..

yea i did, i guess i'll send them an email cuz i don't like calling :-/

i was told that this forums would be the best place to ask about this sub because a lot of people have it, thats why i came and asked here first.

Won't happen in a Jetta, I can tell you that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The LAB Basshorn idea would be worthwhile, but the thing with folded horns is that you don't particularly need a driver with high excursion. Actually, it's counterproductive after a while. Hence the Fostex full range designs in rear-loaded horns that can rattle windows off very low power, and they only have a mm or so of Xmax. The magic is all in the enclosure.

Those Eminence drivers they used in the Basshorns have all the displacement you need in a backloaded horn setup.

Folded horns are old news, step to the "Cr4B"
Yeah, let's take older technology and re-market it as our own, and sell it for triple what it's worth //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And then claim trade secrets when people figure your scam out by simply reading the material that's already been published...nah, I don't know what that sounds like //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I agree with Beat; an aperiodic bichamber design is going to be a whole lot easier to build, and you actually have a chance at getting that in your car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Although those are big as well...
